Apple Halts Crypto-Based Apps, Says Crypto Mining a No Go

Apple finally puts a halt to applications that involves mining of cryptocurrency on its mobile products.

Through its most recent update, the company has decided to stretch their rules and guidelines regarding cryptocurrencies. It has been noted in the past that Apple has been lenient to its guidelines involving applications which facilitates in the exchanges and Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) as long as they comply all the mandated laws.

Now, Apple has already specified the guidelines regarding their policies on applications that take the form of cryptocurrencies such as wallets, mining, exchanges, ICOs and even the distribution of rewards. In fact, Apple has highlighted that any of the abovementioned activities are prohibited unless they are performed off device. This is in relation to the company’s policies on hardware maintenance and compatibility which are intended for the proper use of power, its battery, and its other device resources.

In the year 2014, Apple delisted applications by Blockchain and Coinbase who were both geared towards crypto currency trading and storage.
