I was in church for a clean-up exercise some months back when I overhead two guys talking. In the words of one:
"My wife can never say no to me, "he said boastfully. "A woman I married with my money has no right to say no. When I want it, I take it. "
The other guy laughed his acquience and within me I felt an anger build.
I felt angry not just because of these guys' warped view of what a sexual relationship should be, but also because this view is held by a few men.
It also doesn't seem to help that a lot of countries do not see marital rape as a crime and therefore perpetrators can go scot-free for their crimes.
Marital rape is a growing menace, but surprisingly there's very little being said or done about it.
Marital rape is defined as a situation where one spouse has carnal knowledge of the other without the receiving spouse's consent or through forced concent.
A lot of women who have experienced marital rape or who are currently experiencing it do not speak out. For most of these women, they see it as a norm, albeit a sad one. They have taken a vow to be joined with their husband and one of their duties as a wife is to satisfy his sexual urge.
Other marital rape victims fear losing their marriages and therefore do not speak up. However, not speaking up doesn't mean there are no effects of being raped, sometimes constantly.
Getting raped is a crime against humanity and strips you of your sanity and dignity. The pain cuts deeper when it's done by someone who has vowed to love and protect you. You feel a level of pain and betrayal so profound it affects your psyche.
The effects of marital rape are deep, damaging and sometimes long lasting. Here are some effects you can expect to see in a person experiencing such:

The first step to stopping marital rape and healing from it is to speak up. If you are reluctant to go to the authorities about your abuse, you should start with a neutral person, preferably a family or friend who has high moral values and your best interest at heart.

If a man can hurt you that deeply, he should be evaluated and made to face the consequences of his actions.

This is really good a topic you choose to post, the rape either its marital or not, is big problem. The women do not want to come out due the influence of men. In my country(India) it a very big problem, here the juvenile gets raped every day and they do not comes out. It has been observed that once some juvenile victim gets pregnant then their relatives goes to police.
