The Zillion

Standing here in that cold, dark place I could still smell the cheap perfume and that of the smoke and weed. Even more than 20 years later I could hear the loud drums and buzz, I could still see the dancers performing on their platforms. I could also remember the guard asking me if I hadn't forgotten anything, and insulting me, saying he would never forget my face when I said "No, I haven't." :-p

Once the place to be in Antwerp, it struck me to see this place abandoned and disdained. The Zillion, as this legendary dancing was called, was closed more than 15 years ago and when some friends asked whether I would like to see if we could enter the place, I was all too happy to oblige! Little did we know that the next day this place would be demolished to make way for a new apartment block.

Och, and by the way: for those who know him, this is only a few blocks away from where @pixelfan walks his dog (although I am not sure if he or his dog ever went to the Zillion...) :-)
