They have seen the police officer standing in the middle of the road. He was driving Carolyn B.R. Hammett and his husband near his home in Greenbelt, Maryland. This is a Maryland police officer standing in the rain to save a turtle from running.

They felt as soon as they came closer. This Hammett was thinking for the first time that the road should have floods. He stood on something. She could not believe that she was standing there for her turtle in all the rains. This master police officer, Sharnise Hawkins, is helping a large snapping turtle to cross the road.

He was serving in every sense of service and was protecting it. The husband of this Hamlet has stepped out of the car and he rescues Officer Hawkins from the rain while the turtle has finished his journey. Many of its people will not do this despite their business.
