The feeling of guilt we have experienced most people, being identified as a negative emotion that affects our mood and how we feel with ourselves. This feeling arises through the beliefs or feelings of having passed over the personal ethical norms of each one, as well as when another person has been harmed.
When we feel that we have committed a fault in terms of an action or a word that we may have made towards someone, our conscience begins to send information to our mind, giving us those labels or recurring meaning of the event already lived and of the possible affected person. in this way, this feeling begins to work to try to facilitate attempts to repair the event that is so tormenting.
Most people do not know the origin of this feeling that sometimes affects us and torments us so much, coming from the development of our moral conscience that is processed and created during our childhood, acquiring its modifications through our individual differences and the different experiences that we take as learned.
Our emotional impulses are the main factor that determine us to perform actions that cause us culpability, since it is in those moments where we respond to the different situations in an automatic way, letting ourselves be carried away for the moment and without first analyzing the possible results of our reactions.
How can we overcome our feelings of guilt?
Step 1. Stop punishing yourself.
It does not help at all to punish us, even if we feel guilty about what happened, that we deserve the worst in the world, that we are the worst, it makes no sense to resort to this thought that does not help us at all. Keep in mind that thinking in this way will not change the results.
Step 2. Start accepting.
It is one of the most difficult aspects in relation to guilt, we must see it as cause and effect, it was a fact that already happened and maybe it has no mediation to change that chapter of history. So he accepts that if you acted in this way it is because all human beings act as internal motivators and repressed needs that many times we can not identify at the most indicated moments. This happens because we do not know how to recognize our intrinsic needs that are related to the deepest needs of our being.
Step 3. Build on what happened.
Live the present moment where what happened is in the past, what we have in our lives as: our relationships, our friendships, your job, your financial life, your belongings, among other things, is just a result of your decisions and Actions. We must know how to build through what has happened to us, either taking it as an experience that can help us to know ourselves a little more and not make again mistakes that make us feel that way or you decide if you just leave Take to the bottom for your own thoughts without getting anything in return feeling more miserable.
