The Tentacles Of Steem: This Is How It WorkssteemCreated with Sketch.

By now, you probably heard that stateofthedapps.com added Steem to their list of apps.

Some of you might not be totally aware of how this came about.

Here is how @soyrosa summed it up:

It was @soyrosa that got the ball rolling with a simple Tweet.

That what set the entire thing in motion. A day and a half later, Steem DApps were listed on the website.

This is an example of how things work and why I am not worried about the future of Steem whatsoever. We have tens of thousands of dedicated Steemians who all have the ability to do what @soyrosa did.

The simple fact is that we never know what our impact will be. I just read a story of how the fall of the Berlin Wall is attributed to a church in a small city. It was about a month before the fall when 70K people gathered to peacefully pray. They took candles and laid them at the feet of the soldiers.

The troops in East Berlin were prepared for everything except candles and prayers.

A month later the Berlin Wall fell.

How true this story is, I cannot say. It does exemplify the power that people do have. @soyrosa showed that.

There is often commenting on Steem about how we simply post to each other. I disagree with this sentiment. Yes, most of what I write is read by Steemians. However, there are two facets to consider.

The first is that it is not read exclusively by Steemians. I have no way of knowing the percentage but all of our posts are on the Internet. People are bound to stumble across them especially since I have seen some of mine in Google rankings.

The second aspect is that we have no idea what another Steemian will do with the information provided. In this instance, someone took an idea brought up by someone else that was written about by me which led to a comment resulting in someone reaching outside Steem on Twitter.

We can see this happen on a daily basis. I certainly hope there are times some of what I post, if readers feel it helpful, send it out on social media. I try to convey a positive image of Steem and what is taking place here. I am excited and feel blessed to be a part of something that is so wonderful. I truly feel the future is bright.

Speaking of sending out things on social media, we have some resource off the Steem.com website.

Downloading the files presents all kinds of images.

There are also different kinds of Steem logos.

There is a lot of material for each person to use in post or on other social media. Here we see another step in the right direction.

It is easy to fall into the belief that is little we can do or not much is happening. On Steem, this is real easy to believe if one is not a developer. However, that is just nonsense in one's head. As shown here, the efforts of one person can have significant effect. Of course, we see a stimulus-response situation where we can see the result.

Often this is not the case.

Nevertheless, we need to realize that what we do on here does matter. There is no way to tell who might read on of our posts. Who knows, a post that is sent out on social media might bring someone to the table with some deep pockets. Remember, all of us arrived here somehow. In other words, something brought us here.

With so many thousands of people, all reaching out in different ways, there will be an impact over time. We are seeing numbers growing. At the same time, we see Steem showing up in different places. It might feel like we are watching grass grow but that is how things work. Suddenly, there will be a day when it all takes off.

image.png

Each day it seems more resources are showing up. This is a community effort and the input of all is required. There are many wonderful developers creating incredible things. That does not mean, however, that the rest of us are not contributing. Every positive action that moves us forward is progress. Over time, we will see the net results of that.

It is easy to get down when things are not going how we want them. That is what separates the successful from those who say "I wish I had". There were a lot of people who looked at Steem and failed to see what was here. A lot of this can be attributed to us as a community since we did not develop the tools to explain things to those people. That is changing. I wrote yesterday about Steem.how which is a site that has loads of information about what Steem is along with different lists.

This is something that would be great for the social media hounds to start Tweeting, posting on Facebook or sharing in Instagram. Again, we never know who will come across it.

The idea is to keep the tentacles of Steem spreading deeper and wider. The success of Steem is going to require the efforts of tens of thousands of people. There is no magic bullet. It is a daily thing with each of us doing a part.

At least until that one major breakthrough moment is reached.

What is in your Vision 2025?

It is a image that I post to remind people and have them help spread the word to be long term focused with Steem. This is a process for the entire industry which will take a couple years of development.

So many get down with every leg lower. We need to spread the idea that this is a long term project and patience is required. I am hoping others jump on board to spread the message.

this is great news...I hope steem gets a nice green candle today too like some of the other coins...funny because I was just thinking of getting some litecoin but now I feel like I should wait for this green day to turn red lol

This is great news, although I notice that there are no daily or weekly volume figures showing up as yet.
Based on the numbers from https://steemapps.com/?time=last_week Steemit and Steem Monsters should be rating pretty highly once these numbers come through.

It takes at least 24 hrs to get the right data, so it will be uptodate soon!

thats what i thought too! a lot of Steem Dapps will rank sky high :D

Steem Apps will completely dominate the Social category and Steem Monsters will be #2 game.

shh yeah! thats precious marketing!

I was thinking the same thing. Getting the site to start reading the data, which I presume it will in a couple days, means that people will start to notice the DApps on Steem versus other sites.

We also could see the industry blogs pick up on it and use this as a resource.

Yes, great post, it's about a lot of small actions that we take individually to reach our bigger goals - I'm still surprized how easy it was to get Steem listed, and I think we can learn from that once we start complaining 'Why isn't Steem listed/mentioned/etc' we should just ask... It might just work ;-)

Thanks for the positive blog again! :D Cheers!

Thanks to @soyrosa for getting this done. As @taskmaster4450 said, it will not be one event, but the effort of 10,000 people that will make Steem happen.

Nice i like your post and profile also.

This is great!! steem added to that website, somehow because you posted a writeup with that idea. Amazing.

Once statistics are updated and show not only the amoubtbof active users but also the amount of transactions, it will bring more attention to the potential to develop on the blockchain. In addition, when they are able to see how scalable the ecosystem is, it will truly be attractive given the price of Steem. This could be a pivotal point for the community!

TBH, i am a bit worried and i feel very attached to Steem. I am worried because we have a lot of people who can easily rise up to effect some changes on here but would rather ignore it. Would be glad if more people were like Soy'... The blockchain has the potential. We have to work to make it as attractive as we want it to be.

Thanks for pointing us towards https://steem.com/brand/. i'll head over and download the logos to Canva. There's a lot i can contribute to with that.

this is great news to see ... from tiny seeds great things grow
