Nothing to say...

When I rack my brain for a topic and can't find anything to write about, that doesn't stop me.

Maybe it should, but no... Sometimes I just open the screen and start typing away, while words pour on to the screen, and I wonder where they will go...

Will this trigger the content snobs? Will they be upset I had the desire and willingness to just type some stuff here and hit post?
Some will give me helpful advice... "Only post when you have a really important thing to say"

Others will accuse me of reward farming..."You only posted that to make money"

I don't care what they say, I will just show my wild side and just make a post anyway, "let 'em talk".

Some will make a beautifully polished post about their local museum, or rewrite all the old self-help articles yet again. (as if I can't google that is I care about the topic)

Others will show off their camera lens with a beautiful close up of a bug or a flower. Which ads more value? Are you sure?

Several have given me advice on how to polish up my blog with a standard footer and better art to look professional.

I've never pretended I am a professional writer, I just post. I post my thoughts, views, and perspective and it is up to the community whether or not to reward that or to penalize it with downvotes.

I used to be funny. Remember that? I feel like humor now feels out of place on Steem.

Are we having any fun yet?

Steem: You are taking yourself too seriously... we have all these experts who know what is sustainable and what is profitable... :)

We can't just let people gather and upvote what they like.. that would be bad.

Dear Reader, if you made it this far either vote (up or down) or don't. That is really all there is to it.

You are expressing your influence your vote will allocate a portion of the reward pool which is a direct reflection of how much stake you own, others can ad their stake or use it to remove rewards.

If we have a lot of people here others will come to sell them things, to tell them things and make games and casinos and tee-shirt stores. That is how economies work. People gather and other people come to trade and exchanges things with them.

It was never about the content and it never will be. That doesn't mean we shouldn't fight obvious farmers it just means we shouldn't take it all so seriously.

That's all I don't have to say!

should we not take it seriously? I think this is your post topic in a nutshell, because it sits in the middle of the equation for how to draw in the type of people we want to see on the platform.

Steem is drifting off as a would be shitcoin because of farmers. and its not the little farmers, its the 'go getters', or super farmers as i call them, the ones who have 5 alts (and thats ok now, because tokens).

they post single photos, actifit, appic, games captures, twitter feeds, dlike 20x a day. the ones who are on every feasible platform for the token payout and who cash in on their "popularity", some talent, trademark or stash of money that makes them desirable to know. the ones who are supported by their whale friends, so they appear to be "legit". Until you look at their actions.

these people take a good chunk of the reward pool while other people work hard writing quality posts, on curating or modding, or giving to the community through development or engagement. some struggle to keep their heads up as they hodl and watch their investments dwindle into nothing - and thats ok, no need to be serious about it, what did you expect? theyre just trying to earn money. but they arent here to invest. and thats a problem.

money. its all about money and who can screw the platform to get it and cash it out before steem drops another 2c. How many of these people are the reason the price of steem is falling when its almost hellaciously active with token trading? we are rewarding the wrong people and no one will admit to that because heaven forbid you confront them with their behavior.

We tell each other in small groups that we are trying to create a better system and yet we let these people go unchecked because liberty and free choice and all.. is this really a better system? is it any fairer, or is it more of a carbon copy of what we already have?

I'vre been on the platform for two years trying to be ethical and fair minded. Ive hodled and waited and waited for the turn around while what i put into steemit had been cleaved in 3, not counting the 2 years of work and post rewards. My investment should count for a lot more than some effing farmer who abuses the platform.

But lets just shrug our shoulders and say "what can we do? what did you expect, that's just the way it is". Let's not do anything, lets not get too serious about it. Because that's a sure fire way to draw new investors.

I am an advocate of manual curation.

Social media is supposed to be fun.

sucking the fun out of anything will not create investment. Just curate.

Oh by the way, I don't think crypto is going to create some magical fair economy that is better. Human nature comes with us every where it goes. What it might do is break down the current system into small enough pieces we can start the cycle again.

I do curate. And I will continue to until I cannot afford to. after two years, I am weighing whether its worth the investment when the platform incentivizes being an arsewipe. The answer isnt positive.

So while I might love the idea of the platform, and love the people, it's no longer a rational decision to stay. Yet I do, and its a conscious choice. But when people tell me I shouldnt worry or get too serious about losing money while other people gain by being unscrupulous, i do question that.

Its like saying dont worry that you have a cut that wont stop bleeding. It's an irrational statement.

I didn't say you shouldn't worry about your investment. I think you are reading into what I wrote. I curate every day... up and down. I'm all for it.

We all have to make investment decisions. I'm not sure Steem is a good investment either. I consider it all the time, I'm still waiting for Steem to become a buy, it isn't yet in my book.

well you were rather vague. "we shouldn't take it all so seriously". what is this it?? indefinite pronouns? content? hodling? steem?

are you saying we should all shit post and thats ok? its fine for you as you seem to be popular and can rake in nearly 5 steem writing a post about "nothing". you also seem to be part of the problem imho, as i see you sending chunks of steem to bittrex. so forgive me if im not sure what "it" you are referring to.

I powered up everything including my SBD for over 2.5 years.
I also bought some Steem.
I manually curate
My posts regularly get 20-50 comments.
:) I guess that's a problem if you don't think engagement is the goal.

That's my point, I don't think writing a great post that no one cares about is the goal. Write somethng engaging and make friends.

However, if you do think I am over rewarded.. please feel free to downvote me as I appreciate that we all have different views and should use our stake to back them up.

grats, you had the good fortune to find your niche. i never said that you dont engage. i just think community leaders who talk about how to improve the community and get people to join our platform should realize taking money out of the platform right now when steem is nosediving looks like a sign of fear, and a lack of support for the platform they are espousing - while at the same time telling everyone else that they shouldnt be so serious about "it". how very vague and comforting, "don't worry be happy"?

If you followed my blog and I am not unhappy that you don't, different strokes for different folks.

You would know my light powerdown and selling is a protest regarding the HF21 changes and how I DON"T support them and don't think they are good for the smaller bloggers.

I don't tell people to buy right now, and frankly I think our stakeholders will likely at some point not want to support the bloggers at all and I think that is the wrong direction to take.

My post tonight, while vague to you is about the fact that I think Steem should be a social network that is friendly, easy to use and encourages people to chat, visit, post casually and enjoy. That has been my message for 3 years. :)

Cheers!

And I think it’s a good post anyway. Steem must not be only for the excellent content creators, Steem is for everybody independently of the thing they want to share, people judge and decide what upvote, downvote or not

It is a perfectly good post and interesting to some and not to others.

:) That's the point...

I think I have to look into that #nineteencents tribe you just introduced me to!

We can choose not to upvote if we please. We can unfollow if we please. We can also just jump in and talk and have a conversation with you!

Better the occasional random ramble post rather than silence from a leader like you.

I think encouraging engagement and interesting conversations is more important than encouraging boring plastic posts, but that's just me.

We are in this awkward wait for the fork phase. :)

#nineteencents sure indeed is a great tribe. I checked it out and was not sorry.

Only voted because you told me to, but i got confused between up or down so decided almost half up. lol

haha! :) I'll take it and appreciate it.

I endorse you, as blogging author.

As well you should... you can't get this just anywhere.

Post food pics 😂😂😂

eye-roll

Will this trigger the content snobs? Will they be upset I had the desire and willingness to just type some stuff here and hit post?

Day after day, I come to the Steem blockchain in search of peer-reviewed essays on the topic of intra-party squabbling among those competing for influence in Bulgarian municipal elections during the 1890’s.

Day after day, I’m sorely disappointed. What’s taking so long?

Also missing: DIY Underwater basket weaving.

Yoink!

It was never about the content and it never will be.

It should be.. but I have to agree.

You only posted this to get !BEER ;)

Wrack My Brain was song by Ringo Starr.

I like ringo star. Good to see you.

A well struck blow for mediocre bloggers everywhere.

Mediocre bloggers unite!

Now if we could just get the commenters to organize maybe we could get some standards for them not to meet, too!

YES! We need to defend our mediocracy!

Preach on, wordy woman. I voted up your wise words.

Don't do the footers for the love of sweet jeebus, please don't :0)

Ahahah. Every time I think "I should do footers" I am going to remember THIS comment.

HEhe, thankfully. There are so many that go on forever!!

but I could give you EVERY crypto address I own so you would know where to tip me if you wanted to.............

lol...

Hahaha, you're right of course, there can never be enough crypto addresses!!!

I was going to downvote this for not being a planned out post with pretty illustrations and footers, but I agreed to much with what you're saying. Have a puny vote instead for not putting enough effort in and not knowing what to write about.

Haha, thanks for the puny vote. I cherish it. :)

You summarise well what a big percentage of people think and even want to be able to do in this post @whatsup.

I always have that in the back of my head since the day I join... 'you must only post things carefully done with images and text'... Since steemit sell that idea and the though of just writing what is in your mind will not be as appreciative or well received.

So I want to thank you for making this post and at least try to poke a bit the 'usual content' even if there are people that may not like it or understand it.

Well there's no more comedy open mic so no more humor around here maybe. 😅

Having nothing to say and writing that is communication.

I feel like you had the but.... click bait kinda thing going on.

I feel like humor now feels out of place on Steem.

I am sorry to hear that. Let's increase the drama and fun.
