What If This Post Didn't Earn Anything?

What if this post didn't earn anything?

What if it didn't even have a chance of earning anything?

Why would I make it?

Who would read it?

Why would anyone create discord groups about it.

Would anyone Talk about it? Why?

Who would want to pay for the servers to store this post if there weren't financial incentives?

If we had a great front-end people would come here?
But would they? Why and how?

Have you EVER said... Wow that site has an amazing front end I think I will use it?
no, you haven't.

Do you love the UIs of all the sites you use?
no, you don't.

If we were launching a new mainstream media site and had any hope of it being successful in terms of paying enough to cover it's own costs there would need to be Millions of dollars in Marketing and Events.

All Apps should be financially successful on launch?

How many new technology projects start off profitable?

Sometimes people say something and other people start to repeat it...

Yesterday, one thing I heard is that big businesses would want SMTs over Scot Tokens.

What? That makes no sense. One would have to know what they want to do with it and why they are using it to know which product would be better.

Be careful who you listen to.

:)

Just a few things to think about.

Can you caress it gently but firmly or whisper encouraging nonsense or whatever you need to do before you ask about the upcoming EIP? Also what timeliness is this on, be careful, deadlines are borderline coercion.

Token distribution bot developed by @ali-h

even the people from Steemit Inc were clear in saying that Steem Engine and SMTs would co-exist not one being a replacement for the other. Some folks get too focused on there only be one of something instead of realizing that options grow as the numbers grow

Why do you think that doesnt make sense? Tell me one thing Scot tokens "on paper" (since we dont know what the final SMT product will look like") would do better then SMTs.
SMTs will be forked in and are being built by Steemit.inc the main blockchain dev team. Forget Stinc record thus far, that still gives SMTs legitimacy over Scot tokens.

Why what is the legitimacy... Multiple witnesses... okay but they are hand chosen by each other.

Maybe someone just wants to launch a game.

Maybe they will need new features and customization. My experience with big businesses are that they like and expect to be catered to...

Seems the flexibility of Scot also has some advantages.

I'm just saying it is an unproven assumption unless you know who the big business is, what they do and what they want to accomplish.

It kills me how "business" gets tossed around. Are they a publishing compnay, an accounting company, a healthcare company?

LOL, see if you think it through for 5 minutes, to make an assumption on what they will want is just that.

Look. Steem engine is great for what it is and im not even mentioning businesses here.
Lets pump the breaks on "businesses" and not get ahead of ourselves. Getting a number of average quality developers with an idea from the SMT launch would be a win. Anything above that is a bonus.

Im openly asking you. What is it that on paper scot bot can do and SMT wont be able to?

Look, scot bot is awesome. It gave us a taste for SMTs but the whole idea came from aggroed, matt and a few others being sick and tired of waiting for SMTs.

I don't think we know for sure what we are getting with SMT lite. I don't know when we will get it. Not counting on it.

So, I think Scot will always be ahead. If someone business or not wants to customize something, or needs a feature... Who do you think could facilitate that?

SteemIt Inc? Or Aggroed and Matt?

Is that @buttcoins on the left up there?

Splinterlands could become a big business?

I have a feeling that outside businesses would pick SMT over Scot if they were given the choice, but what do I know. Time to go buy some more tokens :)

It's enough room for any business. They'll all need steem so it doesn't really matter which one they'll choose.

I think it is an assumption without merit to assume without knowing what the use case is.

Yes, that is Buttcoins! Did you see his awesome video about NewSteem?

Yes, splinterlands could become a big business. And it got it's start here we incubated it. Our users used it, shilled it, contributed art, bought the cards, basically beta tested it. and some fell in love and will continue to do that.

Where else can you recreate that?

Those are some really great questions that you bring up @whatsup, and it really does strike to the core of our motivation, it's awesome.

This post is AWESOME!

The goal of this project is to "highlight Awesome Content, and growing the Steem ecosystem by rewarding it".

You know big business are control freaks, they will not join steem until things like what steemit.com is seemingly gearing up to do with "mute" options and such are thoroughly implemented, and even that might not be enough for them. I honestly think that public publishing platforms are never, I mean Never, going to see adaptation from big business, after all, if the overwhelmingly conscious userbase doesn't have a field day over the litany of corruption that plagues almost all big business, from collusion with scumbags of one kind or another to outright fraud and lies, their competitors will and just imagine if you were in charge of a shitty mega Corp if you'd give people a platform under your content to raise hard questions and intrepid concerns.

I was thinking today that if steem ever goes mainstream there will be very little left that I came here for. How ironic.

However, if I loved mainstream things, I guess I wouldn't be here in the first place.

There's a huge difference between mainstream and catering to multinational corps that have their fingers in everything from mild things like cheap labor exploitation/child targeting campaigns and ruthless consumerism promotion to the nasty stuff like economic warfare and blatant criminality, the former to me means that Joe and Sally use steem to interact with one another and the rest of the community which is where we are and have been, while the later means compromising the ethos of this place, things that few have yet to appreciate even (immutability, public forums/public publishing services, transparency and trustless decentralization).

People come here to find something they are looking for. However, they probably end up finding a completely different thing.

I never thought I would find myself thinking about spending $15 for a digital asset that is for a card game that I find entertaining... Anything is possible here which is encouraging!
