FOODIE#4: BREAKFAST IN VIETNAM_ part 1

"What do Vietnamese have for breakfast?"

Phở is definitely an answer? But not this time. Or at least not for me.

My British friend told me once that it was a right choice living in Vietnam. One of his big reason is food. Vietnam is a heaven of food for real. You can have anything you ask for, from the East to the West. I heard a lot of my foreign friends (especially whom from Western) said they love Vietnamese breakfast. Back to their countries, the typical breakfast are just cereal, milk or pancake. I think it's a part of their culture. But we cannot deny that in fact these food had too much sugar and they are not good for our health at all.

Besides of having breakfast at home, Vietnamese also enjoy going out for breakfast. Like many other dishes of Vietnam, our breakfast was made from fresh food such as: rice, pork, beef and vegetables. They are tasty, healthy and rich of nutritions. These below are my favorites breakfast which I have bought or cooked myself.

1, Bánh mì
I love Bánh mì. Bánh mì is my life haha. The foods inside depend on local region, usually consists in three groups:

• Ingredients: roasted pork, beef, minced meat, pork liver, sausage, chicken, tuna, cheese, fried eggs, butter, grease e.g
• Vegetables: sliced cucumber, coriander, red onion, basil, etc.
• Sauces: soy sauce, fish sauce, hot chilli pepper sauces, etc.

2, Bánh cuốn

• Made from rice flour, steamed, rolled. It has mushroom, meat and fry onion inside.

3, Bánh đa cua

• Special dish from Haiphong. Ingredients: brown rice noodles, meat, shrimp, grilled chopped fish, fry onion, vegetables, crab, etc.

4, Bún trộn

• Ingredients: rice noodles, chopped chicken, chopped beef, peanut, fry onion, vegetables, special sauce, etc.
• Mix all the ingredients together, add soy sauce or hot chilli sauces depends on your taste.

5, Bánh mì que

• Other special dish from Haiphong. This is quite simple, just a small bread with pate inside, serve with hot chilli sauce. But I have no idea why it's so delicious. I can eat from 10 to 20 pieces in one time.
