B&W Photo Contest Bridges - Historic Thomas Viaduct

in bwphotocontest •  7 years ago  (edited)

For @daveks’s B&W Photo Contest, here’s a historic bridge near Elkridge, Maryland called the Thomas Viaduct. Built in 1835, it is still the largest curved stone arch railway bridge in the world and is still in operation today. The bridge’s architect was laughed at and told that it would never stand, especially with rail traffic.

I shot this on my old iPhone 6.

Oh my goodness! I did a double take when I searched the #bidgesoftheworld tag after entering the #bwphotocontest and this image came up next to mine! At first I thought I must have posted twice until I looked a bit more closely! Mine is also a viaduct - in Scotland. And I also happened to shoot it with my old iPhone 6S Plus!

Great shot, and beautiful sky!

Thanks! Your Viaduct looks taller than the one above, very nice!

Yes, it is quite high
