Reflections in the Canadian Rockies

in bwphotocontest •  7 years ago

This is my very first entry for the B&W Photo Contest by @daveks. The theme is Reflections.

I took this photo in September 2016 while on a cross-Canada road trip. We were travelling up the Icefields Parkway in Alberta, and stopped at Hector Lake a little north of Lake Louise to take some photos. It was around 8 AM and as you can see the water was calm making for perfect reflections. I didn't think of making this a black and white until I learned about the contest, but now that I've done it, I like it better than the colour version. Hope you enjoy the photo, and thanks for looking!

Epic shot of such striking scenery.

The reflective nature of the mountain is amazing and I just love the way the evergreens frame in the lake.

Superb photography. Tip!

Thank you, Denise, the water was like a mirror and nobody else was there. So serene!

That is gorgeous!!! Good luck on the contest.. upvoted resteemed!!!

Thanks so much Mike, very much appreciated, my friend!

Nice photo! It's amazing how removing colour can sometimes enhance an image :) Well done! I'd love to go for a canoe ride in that body of water!

Thanks so much! It does look cool in black and white, but what we do miss is the emerald green of the glacial water

Gorgeous view, Keith! Must have been breathtaking standing before all that natural beauty... :)

Thanks a lot, AC, this is some of the nicest scenery I have found... all through Banff and Jasper national parks in Alberta

Really nice reflective photo my friend. Thanks for the resteem. 🐓🐓

Thank you very much!

Beautiful reflections Keith. Such fantastic scenery there.

Thank you! I think Alberta has some of the best scenery! (I was born in Newfoundland, grew up in Ontario, now living in BC )

Snow capped mountains in the distance, lush pine trees outlining the serenity of the lake, and not one but two pristine views of the marvelous scenery! Breathtaking photography! @keithboone

Thanks so much Nina! See... my wife always wants to fly. We could get back to Toronto to see the kids in 5 hours. I like to drive... this is why. I don't care that it takes a week or more on the road. I think on this trip we took 10 days to get back east (stopping every five minutes for pictures) and then 4 days hard driving on the return trip!

thats a great shot, I'd love to make it back to Lake Louise one day!!

Thanks a lot! This is Hector lake, and if I remember correctly it's quite close to Lake Louise. That whole area is amazing! Banff and Jasper national parks have some of the finest scenery in Canada.

Here’s the photo from that trip you had mentioned, really nice!

Thank you sir!
