Information is Power - How to keep track of your Steemit account with external resources.

in c0ff33 •  7 years ago  (edited)

Another day and another drama, Steemit keeps growing but as it does so do the demands on it's resources. Like any good system it has methods built in to keep it running when demand exceeds supply. If you are waiting for a train but when it arrives the carriages are already full, you are politely asked to wait for the next one. The same happens with a bus, if it's too full to take on new passengers it won't stop to pick you up, you have to wait it out until one comes by that has free space to take you on your Journey. When Steemit hit's peak load, so many posts, upvotes and comments it can not keep up it starts to do the same thing automatically - it start's with the smallest accounts that have the least Steem Power and blocks them from posting, upvoting and commenting until it reaches a point it can stabilise for the rest of the user base. Returning to the train analogy, you would not expect someone who had been on the train for some time to be forced off just so someone else could get on and complete their journey. Steemit rewards long term users and holders of a large amount of Steem Power by keeping their access consistent - when it struggles to cope with the demand the accounts with the smaller Steem Power are the first to be restricted. So as your build your presence on Steemit it is beneficial to invest in Steem Power as much as you can, by converting SBD rewards to Steem and then Steem Power. While you can set your post rewards to Power Up ad receive 100% Steem Power - most people I have encountered say that the best value is to stick with 50/50 rewards and then convert the SBD earned to Steem and then Steem Power.

While your wallet gives you an idea of your Steem Power holding, many external services can give you far more information about your Steemit Experience - so let's take a look at them.

steemdcom.png

steemd.com is by far my favourite site for activity information, you can see everything that happens with your account including upvotes received and also the upvotes you give out. You can also see your current Vote Power - which drops with every upvote you give and will only increase when you stop upvoting - or reduce your upvote % you give away. It also shows your bandwidth - so when the green bar is gone you can not post, upvote or comment until it returns. Acessing steemd.com is simple, just enter steemd.com/@youraccount into the browser and it shows the information.

Steemworld.org offers a gui on the information available above, it works well and let's you view a wealth of information easily.

steemworld.png

When you visit steemworld.org you can use the Switch Account button to view your own account details - or anyone else you fancy taking a look at.

If you are just interested in your earnings, then steem.supply is the way to go. As usual add your own user name with @ symbol to get your details steem.supply/@yourusername

steemsupply1.png

You can see a break down of earning from posts, and also from comments. I still feel comments are under utilised on Steemit, with just a little effort to leave a comment relevant to the post, engaging the poster and / or their audience you can quickly build up your earnings. Some days I comment alot, others I just don't get time - these two days I had the time to put the effort in

steemsupply2.png

Sometimes I think people miss out on the opportunity of comments, it isn't just earning from comment upvotes when you leave something people like - leaving a comment is an advertisement for your own blog - the poster will appreciate you leaving a comment and most likely remember to visit your blog.

Another alternative view of your account is available from steemstats, com, which makes it easy to select just the information you need to know.

For Steemit to grow we need to post rich content - interesting and unique posts that encourage others to join in and share their experiences. If you feel your own posts are not doing well look at what your favourite content creators are doing - if you like their work they are doing something you could do as well - think of way to do similar things with your own unique twist.

As Steemit grows making your content stand out gives it a greater chance to be seen and enjoyed, I try to work on making one post a day - but making it as big and content rich as I can. I don't know if this is the right way, but I enjoy the most big content rich posts - and a wise man on Steemit once said to me - make your content like the content you enjoy.

Thank you for this collection. I personally think that the steemworld.org website by @steemchiller is by far the best website for this type of tasks!

I love the variety of tools and reporting sites for Steemit you have listed all the ones I regularly check

Great post explaining them all very clearly

Tip!

Thank you very much, I found these over time on steemit, mostly finding them in others posts or comments mentioning them. Putting them all together makes it easy for people to see and find, hopefully they will find use from them.

Yes it’s great to put them all together like this

A great find, thank you for all the info.

I agree with you. Comment is best way to earn more. I didn't use steem.supply before. Just heard about this from you.

There are even more handy tools, keep an eye out for my future posts :-)

Thanks man... Just started my steemfollower account... Upvoted and followed you... Good luck to all of your posts. Have a blessed day...

That is a very good way to get started, just remember you only start getting your post show for upvotes after you upvote 5 posts.

I am just found out about steemd.com today. But I do not know any thing about the rest. Will check them out.

There are more as well, thank you for taking a look at my post :-)

You are right comment the best way to earn money easy its a post but you can write a lot of comments and earn.

I just posting a post about introduce myself check it :)

This is very true, intelligent comments on posts can earn well - and you get the added bonus of more visibility if you are seen commenting all over then people will more then likely look at your work as well.

Thank you so my @c0ff33a for this information, to tell you the truth I did not know about the bandwidth. Thank you for the explanation! :)

You are always welcome, and thank you for your continued support.

I had a problem yesterday, with my account stuck. Bandwith limit. What saved me, I had some STEEM that were gifts. I was able to power up with it. Then I claim my rewards and I was fine. I am always going to keep some emergency STEEM.

The more Steem Power you have the better off your are.

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

Thank you for this! I had no clue we all had bandwidth until reading it.

I don't really understand it myself, but basically when Steemit get's busy it closes the door to the smallest and lowest Steem Power accounts.

Thank you mr Coffe man for this great information!! is there another way to raise the bandwidth without waiting for a long time ?

You need to keep building your Steem Power, invest your earnings into Steem Power or purchase delegated Steem Power.

Thanks for the heads up dude!
Very informative..Now I can also use those external resources you've mentioned to track my account

Thanks for sharing this..

You are more then welcome, I try my best ;-)

I have never checked out steemd and steemworld thank you for sharing I only checked out steemsupply last week, really appreciative of all these developers doing wonderful work.
In my opinion it would be better rather than steemit removing the small user to produce some sort of algorithm to see who set up and account but has not posted for months, and remove the account creating space for new users who want to join and use the platform.
Great post to read while im drinking coffee. In other news I got stung by a wasp this morning....in january.... in winter. :(

Thanks, I found all these over time from reading people's blogs or comments. That idea makes a great deal of sense. Sorry about the wasp, it could have been - the SAD feline could have paid you a call.

Great article! I completely agree with commenting being under-appreciated, although I am new here myself, I have been very insitent about that when talking to new users.

I use steemd and steemworld daily, but I haven't heard of Steem Supply, so thank you for that!

Cheers!

Thank you for taking the time to look at my post and leaving a comment, I'm pleased you found something new and useful.

Very good tools... I need to start using those tools to keep track of my account progress. Thanks for sharing those tips @c0ff33a ... :)

Thanks for dropping by and taking a look, it can be a real benefit to see what is going on with your account especially who upvotes you.

Very good information here. The first three I am using but I have never tried Liquid or Steemstats. Will certainly give those a run.

Thanks for listing out these must-have tools which make life easy for all of us. Although I knew about them some had slipped from my memory, and this post brought them back into my mind. Now I'll use them with renewed enthusiasm!

By the way the Discord link does not lead anywhere - I was keen to check it out.

Again, a great round up of essential tools and keep Steeming!

Thank you for the kind words, which link does not work I tried them all and they somehow work for me?

Sorry, I did not indicate the exact link. Here is the sentence that contains it:

For more upvotes and content sharing join the GuideSteemit team discord

Thanks, I worked out what was wrong. The links worked for me so I assumed they were ok - but really they only worked because I was already a member! I still don't fully understand Discord - anyway I have found the correct invite link to use https://discord.gg/MTERcXc and amended the links for my footer - thanks for the heads up 👍🏽

I like steem supply the most... but in steemd you can also check the data for each individual post including if it has any downvotes..

Steemd.com is my favourite, I refresh it every other second lol!

The reason i like steem supply because it gives me a general idea on what posts does the best and i can gauge my next content based upon that. Plus i like to keep track of my comments i like to have a minimum comments a day challenge with myself.. haha #imkindaweird

I love all the different ways you can see what is going on! I use a few regularly and the rest occasionally but, the biggest and most important lesson is to have fun, people.

You obviously have a great time.

Some people view it as a job. No bueno! It will become a chore. I love the interaction, just wish i had more time!

Thanks again for a quality post! Tip!

I wish I had more time as well, so much wonderful content to enjoy.

Hehe, yeah, that bandwidth issue... It definitely restricts minnows and frustrates those who wish to participate in the community during peak times. But, I guess there's no way around it if you want to have organic growth of the community and prevent spammers early on. I still remember sitting at -%200 for hours on end...until someone awesome came by and helped me out ;)
Screen Shot 2018-01-29 at 12.55.43 PM.png

Of course the worst thing is it's affects the people who need to post the most. It's good to know we still have awesome people about to help out.

Like you :P lol. But, yeah, I seem to be lucky and run into a lot of them :) Can't wait until I can help people with more than advice and links. Getting some friends into this soon. Can't wait to show them the awesome.

Each time I read one of your posts, I learn something new. Thank you!

Thank you very much, you are too kind. Thank you for your support, I really appreciate it.

A wealth of information and handy tools all in one very well written post! @c0ff33a Thank you for putting this together! Upv & Rsd

Thank you very much for your support, I'm very grateful and you win the nicest comment cookie 🍪

You're very welcome @c0ff33a and thanks so much for the cookie! May I please have a cup of your freshly brewed coffee to go along with it?☕😀

I was not aware of Steem Supply, and it looks interesting! Thanks for a great list of useful sites, and now I understand why my bandwidth kept going down..yesterday was the worst for me..

Steem supply is great

Yes steemd is a very important and useful platform

Thanks, I think it is as well.

OMG so much nice information and lots of things to learn , super like it... ;-)

@adityajainxds #thealliance

Great article, I appreciate all the info. I find steemworld.org works best for me but I wish I could click on a link in the notifications and have it open in busy.org instead of steemit. I wonder if that sort of thing is possible?

Steemworld and steemify changed everything for me. I’ll need to check out some of these other ones though. Steemwhales was great but the stats are so out of date now.

Because my VP is getting lower, so I decided to give a tip! too!
