Our Prickly Pear Cactus just began blooming last year. The buds come up and bloom for just about 24 hours and whilt away. Such a beautiful flower that lasts for such a short time. Seems all cactus flowers have a very short bloom.

The cactus here in our yard in Arizona bloom around May/June although wildflower season in the Sonoran Desert is in late February- March.

@lolomarie I am always amazed at how much beauty cacti bring to their environment. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you Chef, cactus are really beautiful and amazing plants. They don't bloom very often but when they do, wow!

I have a cactus, no idea what it is... but its blooms last less than a day also and wilt away! Thought that was interesting since succulent blooms last for what seems like ages!

I'm not sure but I think cactus and succulents are different species/families? Christmas Cactus look like they are succulents don't they? Confusing.....

All cactus are succulents but not all succulents are cactus. :D

Aha! Something I did NOT know! I love learning something new everyday.... thank you.
