Caffè Americano or Americano[1] is a coffee drink made by mixing a shot of espresso with hot water.[2] Hot water used in this drink is as much as 6 to 8 ounces.[3] The name of this coffee was originally a mockery for Americans who asked that their espresso be made thinner.[3]
