The majority of food originating from Papua is made from sago based ingredients, including bagea cakes. Bagea cake itself is a cake from Ternate. This cake also has the same texture as the sago plate, which is a little hard. This cake has a delicious taste that is produced from a mixture of sago flour and walnuts. Actually walnuts that make bagea cake feel more delicious and can make everyone addicted when chewing it.

Bagea cake itself has a shape like a cut tree trunk. The color is yellowish white because it is mixed with walnuts. This typical Papuan cake is not only packed with dried leaves, but also uses beautiful paperboard so that it can be brought as souvenirs for tourists visiting Papua. Bagea cake is perfect when eaten with a cup of coffee or warm tea.

The flavor is savory and not too sweet, making bagea taste crunchy in the mouth. Its distinctive taste makes this cake a favorite for tourists.

This cake when it is bite a little hard textured. However, it is very crunchy and soft when in the mouth.

Because it is made from sago, it's no wonder that bagea feels hard when it's bite. The best way to enjoy Bagea is to dip it first into coffee, then bite.

Now bagea has been modified a lot with new flavors like cheese or chocolate. Bagea is not only packaged using dried leaves but also with beautiful cardboard packaging and is suitable for souvenirs.

This Bagea cake is processed using an oven.

Eggs and sugar are whipped until smooth then added with walnuts, ground peanuts, wheat flour, cinnamon and not to forget baking soda, after that the dough is rounded and baked in an oven at 160oC for a few minutes.

Now there is a new style bagea. New style Bagea has a texture that doesn't fuse ordinary bagea. This snack is a bit chewy but also slightly dry.

Not made from sago flour but fresh sago which is combined with tapioca flour. Nor do you use cinnamon and baking powder as in bagea generally although walnuts do not escape the ingredients of making this cake.

Another difference is in the way of making it that is not baked in an oven but baked on coals.

This snack may be familiar to the people of Indonesia.

So far, Bagea is identical with Maluku and is a compulsory gift brought from this area, however, Sulawesi Island also has bagea although it is not much different from the typical Maluku bagea.

There is also bagea palopo, according to its name is a typical Palopo snack, precisely the Bugis tribe.

The typical taste makes this cake one of the favorites for tourists visiting Palopo city.
