In Calcutta, India, around 1930, rich people used zebra as horse substitute for pulling a carriage. This was considered to be a sign of royalty.
Many a times, we find very strange customs and traditions among those people who lived past centuries.
Just imagine, if somebody does this in today's world!!!
He will be sued for cruelty towards animals.
And I wonder, is the animal zebra capable of pulling heavy load on streets? God knows.... It would have been better if they used two zebras instead of one...
But you can see one more thing in the image... the road seems to be high quality, neat and clean.... May be because of good administration by the authorities.....
