A. FERNDALE The Northern California coastline near Eureka was shaken on Tuesday morning by a strong earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake resulted in structural damage, power outages, and some injuries.
The earthquake struck on Tuesday at 2:34 a.m., with the epicenter located just offshore of California's Humboldt County.
The Humboldt County Sheriff's Office tweeted that "widespread damage to roads and homes are reported throughout Humboldt County due to a major earthquake."
