California Governor Pulls Plug On Statewide High-Speed Rail Project

The Governor of California is throwing in the towel and casting a blow to AOC's Green New Deal.

California voters approved a $10 billion bond in 2008 to build a high speed train from Los Angeles to San Francisco. Ground was broken in 2015 but the project was met with missed deadlines and cost overruns.

By scraping the project, California faces having to give back $3.5 billion to the Federal government. It also casts the Green New Deal as completely absurd. In that proposal, it was suggested that airplanes be replaced with high speed trains.
