New twins on the farm

Jersey cow Heddy had twin bull calves. Since we've been having calves I have always wished for twins.......and she delivered!!

She was bagged and swollen for 2 weeks to the day, drove us nuts. We brought her in the barn, set up the nursery and turned on the camera.

I lost so much sleep over those 2 weeks in anticipation of our new farm arrival. I would take the monitor to bed so I could sleep with one eye open, or should I say one ear open. It was a long worrisome 2 weeks wondering why she wasn't calving. Usually Heddy bags up and it's 2 to 3 days and she has her baby.....not the case this time.

I palapated her, I called the vet, I was talking with anyone with cows that would listen to see if they had ever known of this, I was reading forums.......it was frustrating waiting and worrying

But 2 weeks to the day and almost hour of bringing Heddy to the barn, she finally went into labor. She delivered a healthy bull calf. We were watching and making some phone calls to let everyone else who has been worrying right along with us, that the long awaited birth was over............so we thought.

Heddy got up and was cleaning up the little guy and he was trying to stand so we decided to head back up to the house when my hubby noticed hooves sticking out........I thought he was teasing me, when I looked there was nothing and then all off a sudden Heddy laid back down and a few pushes later......voila.....another bull calf.........holy crap I have twins......my wish came true.

Thank you Heddy!! She is such a wonderful cow and mother. These twins are doing great! Next week begins some training. I usually bottle feed the calves, but this was a situation we didn't know how to handle........so nature is taking it's course. I will just halter train them......
