Camping in Mokala National Park

In my opinion - this is the nicest Camping Ground found in any of South Africa's National Park - If you are looking for rustic. What makes this camping ground so great - there are no fences around it and wild animals can walk through it freely. There is a water hole just outside the camping ground as seen in this photo. Tsessebe (Damaliscus lunatus) a type of African antelope can be seen in the background.

From the sign you can also see that there are some dangerous animals that you need to keep an eye out for.

The bathroom facilities at this Camping Ground are not very great.

Our evenings were spent around a campfire and the game drives were rewarding.

Warning - Buffalo

Mokala National Park is situated about 70km out of Kimberly just off the road (N12) to Cape Town.

In this photo Warthog, Blue Wildebeest and Tsessebe can be seen at the waterhole just outside the camping ground.

It is very important to connect children with nature so that they can take care of it and respect animals and plants. I am a park ranger in Venezuela. I love national parks. I would like to visit the national parks of South Africa. Here we do not see such large animals.

I have a pair of Urocone Rattlesnakes from Venezuela. Do you know them?

esa serpiente es un crotalo muy venenosas!!

awesome experience.
Mokala National Park has different accommodation types from luxury bungalows to camping.

I think camping best suits at mountains where we can enjoy the beautiful scenaries

i also like camping at mountain. Some time me and my friends visit mountains.

You must very tough. I just read how the drought is affecting South Africa, one minute under shower, flushing the toilets only once a day ...

Only in Cape town, Freestate has some future concerns but no restrictions, certainly not johannesburg or anything north at this point in time. If we are not careful though, we sill soon have those restrictions. 😓

yea thats a problem but not in all the place . A few place is affected by those problem......

This is great, I cant wait until my two girls are old enough to go camping like this!! Well done

Camping in South Africa! That's so exciting. My family and I live in the United States and love to camp! We've never camped outside of the states though, but definitely on our to do list.
