Has the beginning of the second Great Depression arrived?

With an estimated 8,600 retail outlet closures and an already guaranteed 3,500 slated to close over the next two months, 2017 is starting to look like a record breaking year for retail outlet closures.

While a lot of this is due in part to an ever changing business model towards online only sales, bankruptcies and bankruptcy protections are also surging at record pace. One thing is clear; the consumer is out of cash. Things can only get worse from here.
