Ontario is inviting the Candidates with work experience in IT Occupations through its Tech draws. In such Tech draws, Ontario is targeting the individuals with work experience in IT occupations.

Apply in Ontario PNP even with Low Point Score

If you have applied in Express entry first, however, didn’t receive an invitation to apply for Canada PR visa due to low CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) score, you have chance to get permanent residency in Ontario, Canada. Canadian province Ontario has its own provincial nominee program (PNP), i.e. Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) through which it invites, select and nominate the skilled worker for the permanent residency in Canada. The OINP is accepting the candidates with low CRS point score through its periodic OINP draws. Recently, in the tech drawing of OINP, the province has invited candidates with CRS score as low as 439 points. This points required by OINP is quite low compared to the Federal Express Entry cut off marks.
The Express Entry aligned stream has access to Express Entry pool of candidates, through which it can notify the suitable applicants in the pool and invite them to apply in the EE Stream of the OINP. However, to apply in the Express Entry stream OINP, you first need to create a profile in Federal Express Entry system and find a place in EE pool of Candidates.

Ontario Tech Draw is targeting the skilled workers with IT Occupations

Recently, in the 12th July 2019 targeted draw of OINP, province of Ontario issued notifications to the candidates in the express entry pool, with work experience in the following IT occupations:

  • Software engineers and designers (NOC 2173)
  • Computer programmers and interactive media developers (NOC 2174)
  • Computer engineers (NOC 2147)
  • Web designers and developers (NOC 2175)
  • Database analysts and data administrators (NOC 2172)
  • Computer and information systems managers (NOC 0213)

The province will open such Tech draws in coming months as well in view of the ongoing shortage of workers with IT skills and experience across the province. If you receive notification of interest from OINP, apply in the EE stream and get selected, you get the provincial nomination from Ontario and subsequently, 600 additional CRS points based on the same in express entry system. Such massive addition of points makes certain that you get the Invitation to Apply for Canada PR visa from IRCC in the very next draw of the EE system.

What is a Tech draw of OINP?

The Tech draws are organized by OINP to address labour shortages in the technology sector of the province, it offers a key pathway to tech worker to obtain permanent residency in Canada. The OINP explore the Express Entry pool to select the candidates who:

  • Fulfill the parameters of the Human Capital Priorities Stream
  • have work experience in one of the targeted NOC Codes (occupations)

If you have been selected by OINP, you will get a Notification of Interest (NOI) in your IRCC express entry account. However, receipt of an NOI does not essentially mean that you qualify for the relevant streams.
To start the process, you may coordinate with a trusted Canada immigration consultant, check your eligibility and apply for the relevant stream of OINP.
