CANCER: A NEW MAN IN EVERY FAMILY

Cancer in the past had a specific set of predators: bad guys with bad habits. The dramatic increase in cancers affecting almost every organ of the human body has put down the explicit risk factors which include alcohol consumption, tobacco use (smoking and smokeless).
Human Papilloma virus infection, Drug-induced Immunosuppression, Sunlight, Ubiquitous radiation, Faulty genes, Toxic chemicals ,Insecticides, Junk food, Red meat are new entities that have joined the race in causing cancers. Toxic chemicals occur naturally in air, water and soil. It is also released into the environment by agricultural and industrial processes. Reports by the World health organization claim that exposure to inorganic arsenic by consumption of food grains especially rice has been linked with cancers of the prostate, liver, nasal passages, kidney, skin, lung and bladder .These omnipresent chemicals have indeed crippled the human body with dreadful diseases Sedentary life-style has been linked to 13 different cancers of the human body one of which also includes Head and Neck cancer.
Long-term use of mobile phones has been linked to brain tumors and salivary gland neoplasm. Of late we are slowly stepping into an era where any excess usage of electronic gadgets, or consumption of fizzy drinks and refined food would be contributing to different types of cancers in the human body.
Engaging in orogenital sex with multiple partners or early sexual intercourse are associated with a significant risk of Human Papilloma virus associated oropharyngeal cancers in younger individuals. Clinicians are confronted with a daunting task of management of Human Papilloma virus related cancers as on most occasions as they do not present with visible lesions or discolorations in the oral cavity that have historically been the early warning signs of the disease process.
The health impact of the long-term persistence of rapid urbanization, global warming, sedentary life style and ingestion and inhalation of toxic chemicals attributing to cancer could be substantially worse, it seems that we are excavating our own trench and getting engulfed by the Big “C”
