Let me start with the general purpose of this post: Healthy snacks. So, my family and I, we are deep-appreciaters (connoisseurs, of a sort) of so-called organic "junkfood," which ought to be referred to as just superfood in my opinion. Sure, it's on-the-go, it's pre-packed- but the point is it's done so with love and care by mainly US-based start-ups. It's a passion of mine to support companies that have a passion to create and share healthy food. Support that? Yes, I will! Save money (thereby not dumping it into Big Pharma) by eating well and being healthy in the first place? YES, I WILL!
You will often see me promoting a healthy product- they are my idea of "health-care"- being a busy mother with a neuro-muscular disorder and as a survivor of bone cancer. And here's one of those snacks! Today, we found an 'Activated' superfood nut blend by Living Intentions Get this- they're coated in maple-infused probiotics, making them perfect for steadying our immune systems for the coming winter months (have young children? Great time to stock up on probiotics). And they taste.. like heaven. More precisely, pretty much exactly like a sticky-bun (one of those hot messes of cinnamon, maple, and sugary gluten-bombs). One of my guilty pleasures. But why not forgo the guilt and keep the pleasure? I had to share this new favorite with you all.
Also- late September means not only Michaelmas and the welcoming of fall, but it also marks 7 years since I started an intensive chemotherapy regimen. I barely survived. I attribute my survival to healthy diet and A LOT of marijuana (more on that whole experience later). (You may wonder, how am I condemning Big Pharma and talking up natural health while I actually did a Western chemotherapy treatment. I promise to also brush on how Western and Eastern medicine complement and work together.) My doctor said I'd probably never have children. Guess what Doc? Wrong! I have two beautiful children, and if it weren't for my disorder paired with lingering chronic surgery weakness, my health has never been better. Bragging, yes, I am.
