A world of machines all around us, making candy for us so we can free our hands for other activities. I think the most interesting time period would have been in the early 20th century when candy making was just becoming a major industry and people own local candy stores where they would produce all their own treats. They developed all kinds of amazing technologies using old machinery which would be hand cranked and allowed them to make much more of their candy products than they ever could just using the human machine on its own. With gears and machine power a single turn of a wheel can do the work of a man spending minutes folding hard candy, so imagine how much more they could make which allowed more and more people to have and enjoy their sweets!!!!
