Yeah and i guess if i write about it more ill get better. Just like with my grow. Man i used to post some serious shit. Basically was posting like instagram. One pic, with just one dumb caption. Like fire, bomb, marijuana, etc etc etc, lol

So i think i have the question of the day here for the master.

If i used my SAnta Rita male to back cross the two different phenos of the SAnta Rita females will the offspring be the same strain from both females? Or will both females create a different strain from each one?

Backcrossing two different genotypes to their mother is not an outcross, but narrowing gene pool. But you're gonna end up with two different lines, cause you're using unstable mother and unstable offspring. Saying this BC1 or 1st generation backcross in both cases will still express a lot of similarities due to shared lineage. It's really a die roll in the end as results are unpredictable.

How to you create a stable offspring?

And that's the right question!

So ATM you're dealing with a heterozygous line like on this pic:

We zoom a bit and we get a tiny cluster of a chromosome called allele:

Alleles.jpg

Let's say that these chromosomes are like 2 bowling pins and they both have different stripes :) Well your objective is to get them both the same stripe to make them homozygous. That's what genetic stability is both in plants and in humans.

Because we're stable as a species we don't grow tails anymore although we share 98,7% of our genetic code with another primate, which is Bonobo chimpanzee :) You want to do the same thing with a cannabis variety, you want to make it more uniform, more reliable in cultivation and less prone to mutations... and this you can only achieve through inbreeding or alternatively through selfing if you wanna shortcut the whole thing!

On average lines that are available on the market right now have to be inbred for 8 generations to become stable!

Damn! Very complicated. I’m going to need more room! Lol

I’m thinking on my next batch of seeds I’m going to do a giveaway and maybe sell them on the low for some steem. Maybe we can really get a stable steem og? What you think?

Yeah nobody said it was easy... project like that needs space, resources, time and money, which is why almost no breeders do it.

As far as Steem OG it'd be cool, but it's easier to get a good OG cut, self it and rename it ;)

But jokes aside well OGs are good smoke, but I don't really like the heavy comedown. Besides it's hard to find a variety these days that doesn't have some OG inside! And it comes with good and bad sides!

Yeah well see. Im defiantly going to do a give away of seeds, if things go accordingly. The santa rita male is turing purple and smells wonderful. Aslo the santa rita #1 thats already harvested is some nice smoke. Its a little fruity on the nose with a little backdrop of the tahoo. Its a great day time smoke not to over powering. Basically what ever seeds i make is going to be some great smoke for somebody to grow out. After this im going to be done with trying to make seeds. Its just to time and space consuming to worry about to do it just for fun.

Yeah some seeds is not a problem! It's doable in any conditions.

It can be like a group project powered by steem!

But also having a dice roll with lots of probabilities might be perfect for steem og, due to all the different people and content we have on this platform. Mmmm this might be interesting.
