as a spouse of a medical cannabis user

in cannabis •  7 years ago

My wife @MediKatie and I saw some great doctors at the cancer clinic in Vancouver recently. Today, she was finally written a true prescription for the cannabis she's been using since she was a teen. It could have potentially destroyed her spinal cancer without surgery or radiation, when she was a kid, but prohibition kept that potential treatment hidden.

So today was pretty big for us. I'd like to share something I wrote for her about it:

MediKatie,

I liked how the doctors we've seen at VGH are aware cannabinoids have medicinal properties. It has been known since the 90s by researchers and experts, but when I was trained in 2000 or so, there was nothing about cannabis. And in 2018 we've only finally managed to get some specialists up to speed on it.

In any case, this is a special day, and you've done a lot of hard work for this. You've been assaulted physically and verbally, threatened, blackmailed, blacklisted, arrested, slandered, discriminated against, stolen from, evicted, thrown in jail, and hurt by family. All because you've needed cannabis to stay alive and healthy.

There are few crueler experiences for a person to go through, and ALL of it was done intentionally and maliciously by people who should have known better.

You've been wronged in some of the worst possible ways, and you've always been completely innocent. Let that sink in.

Furthermore, you've had the restraint to avoid giving most of your tormentors the verbal lashing they so clearly deserve. Your strength and grace are powerful.

This piece of paper is a symbol of all of that, and more.

And yet, it's just a useless piece of paper which shouldn't even be required. We are all free to use plants in any way we deem fit. And yet, this piece of paper can stop 10 armed prohibitionist thugs, all drooling to find your dabs and a promotion.

As "legalization" (supposedly) approaches, and prohibition doubles down, what happened today is a victory, and I'm proud of you.

Thank you! <3 Upvoted, going to resteem. Thinking back to how things could've been different in the past with this piece of paper...

Tomorrow (May 9th) is the 1-year anniversary of my "cannambush". They broke in and removed me by force. While I was cuffed in the back of the cop car, they were taunting me, threatening to make me do jail time since I didn't have the official Health Canada paperwork for the cannabis they thought they were about to receive lol.

Happy anniversary! What a difference a year can make. :)

Congrats it will be nice not to be bothered by the cops. I would say that is the main reason for these so-called permission slips. It is kinda like Thank You for letting me use a substance that they feel needs controlling. A positive definitely is the doctors finally waking up Wow Hello!!!! I still to require cannabis to live for a number of reasons but call me crazy I don't trust this medical system yet to help me they hurt me more than helped me in the past so I remain unlicensed. Great post-Mr. Rutter :)

Thanks bud!! It's amazing and encouraging to see things changing. I don't trust this medical system further than I can throw it, either! Nobody should need permission slips.

Amazing paper shield...

But yeah a note from your doctor gets you excused...

Plant clones and seeds everywhere!

Good point on the seeds....... and I just got about 1000 high CBD seeds, from the GMM2018..... hmmm :D

10gpd not bad. did the clinic charge?

No, she was lucky to get hooked up with some good doctors at Vancouver General through a program for patients who had cancer treatments as a child and who still suffer from the effects. We only just found out about it and it's what she needed all along. Covered through her disability.
