CALIFORNIA: The cannabis-focused technology company American Green has purchased the California town of Nipton for nearly $5 million. The company plans on transforming the Nipton into a destination for cannabis tourism — in the meantime, the 120-plus-acre town has a population of six, a general store, a five-room hotel, and a solar farm that will eventually allow the town to operate 100 percent off the grid.
FLORIDA: Florida's Office of Medical marijuana has licensed two new medical cannabis cultivators. Both of the new licensees — Three Boys Farm and Plants of Ruskin — had been applicants for the original round of licensing but were denied.
OHIO: An Ohio college has agreed to partner with cannabis testing firm CCV Research, satisfying part of the state's medical cannabis law which requires testing labs to partner with higher education institutes. Until now, none had decided to participate in the industry — however, the college has not yet chosen to be identified.
MICHIGAN: Three individuals have been indicted by the U.S. Attorney's office over alleged attempts to bribe city officials in Garden City, Michigan into giving them a medical cannabis operator license. Under the city’s medical cannabis ordinance, only two cultivation licenses are available and the accused were hoping the bribes would convince officials to amend the rules, add another license, and award it to them.
