Anyone getting this much time for weed is ridiculous to me. With that said it sounds like he was using the usps to mule his drugs which breaks into into federal jurisdiction and federal prosecutors win like 95% of there cases.

While I agree with you on the excessive jail time for marijuana, this wasn't your typical stoner/neighborhood dealer. This was a large criminal operation that shipped drugs across state-lines. That'll get the Feds involved every time.
With that being said, they'll be no relief for him anytime soon. While i won't divulge into what I think of the current administration, I will admit that this administration has been typically poor when it comes to matters of legality. I' I'm sure you've heard about the unconstitutional bans, but MORE specifically, the Attorney General, Jeff Sessions has requested his staff to seek maximum sentencing for drug offenses. This is very very very dangerous.
In short, Mr. Lopez is F'd in the A.
