The media tells us that big pharma fears the legalization of cannabis because they stand to loose billions of dollars in revenue. I accept that big pharma will loose huge revenue when cannabis is finally legalized but I am not sure that is the entire story.
We have all head the stories of tobacco companies registering trade marks and wishing to own the cannabis trade. Tobacco can be quite readily grown in certain parts of the world. In Indonesia I regularly see it drying on the side of the street.
However the extremely strict control over the growth and sale of the tobacco plant have assisted the tobacco monopoly.
They Knew This Was Coming For Years!
Both big pharma and big tobacco have known for years that cannabis would be legalized for both medicine and recreation at some point. They have lobby groups, research analysts and think tanks at the their disposal. They were measuring the market potential from a position of knowledge long before anyone else saw it coming.
My intuition and knowledge of the way the world works tells me that what we are seeing is just another form of controlled opposition. Big pharma and tobacco are ultimately owned by the same groups of bankers. Through corruption and blackmail they also own the government. Any actions that the government will take is approved and known by these financial groups for years before it is made public.
Why are they crying wolf?
What Do Big Pharma Have To Gain By Creating Controlled (Natural) Opposition For Themselves?
Given that there has been so much pre-warning for these financial interests and that the cannabis market is potentially so lucrative I believe they are some of the main money and movers behind the growing cannabis movement. Why share the market when you can own all of it.
They have the money and the knowledge. In today's world that means power and I am sure they are using it!
There is perhaps another reason beyond just the money. Perhaps big pharma realizes that people are waking up to their tricks and poison and want to control the natural healing side of medicine. This has certainly been the case with other natural supplements that are not natural at all. Owning the cannabis market will allow them to manipulate the cannabis people use as medicine. This could be dangerous for society.
How Will We Know If This Is A Scam Or Not?
I do happen to know several people in the medical cannabis industry around the world. There is usually big money behind them but the source of their funding always seems vague. That has just been my experience so far and I hope that you have had better experiences.
We will know if the legalized cannabis market was a wholesale takeover by the big money powers in only a few years. If we see easy licensing and approval systems which mean that anyone can get involved in the marketplace then we will know it's a relatively honest market.
If however we see an initial free market which is soon swallowed up by offshore private interests combined with increasingly difficult measures for producers and inventors then we will know it has all been a controlled opposition from the beginning! It won't be long until we find out the answer to this question.
However even with draconian laws for a relatively harmless plant cannabis growers and smugglers both large and small have shown themselves to be resilient for decades.
They will be a determined bunch to beat!

As long as organic bud is available I don't care if they want in with mass produced crap. I think the market will decide. If cigarette smokers demanded organic tobacco it would be available...
