Cannabis: Enemy of the State
A Speech by Jordan Page, followed by a new pro-cannabis song: Hmm...Did You Know?
Delivered at NH Hempfest & Freedom Rally in Lancaster, NH 8/25/16
Why does the US government maintain its position time and time again that cannabis has no medicinal properties, yet it holds the patent on medical cannabis?
Has the American prison system replaced the American slavery system?
Does the human body possesses an endocannabinoid system with receptors designed specifically to react to the cannabis plant in order to heal itself from various diseases?
These and many other curious questions about cannabis have answers, and the people deserve to know the truth. The truth is that Cannabis is the enemy of the state. It is the enemy of corporatism, of ignorance, of fascism, of spiritual disillusionment. Cannabis is a definitive answer to questions kept hidden by the political establishment because those questions draw attention to the illegitimate and violent occupation of our country by a ruthless regime, who profit and prosper on the misery of millions. An incomprehensible magnitude of people have been murdered, persecuted, kidnapped, assaulted, bankrupted, and falsely imprisoned by a system that seeks to preserve its own power. By hindering our freedom to heal ourselves, their power grows from our sickness and enslavement.
We are, all of us, whether we know it or not, enslaved on a grand plantation whose corporate name is the United States of America. We are all being farmed like livestock by a psychotic and diabolical group of kleptocrats and oligarchs who care absolutely nothing for our rights, freedoms, or welfare. The state is a colossal fiction whose imagined authority is derived from the control of history, widespread lies, and a monopoly on violence. If we examine the state's relationship to cannabis, the motivation to keep it from the people is clear.
All power and assets governments claim are stolen, pure and simple. The constant threat of violence and imprisonment keep the vast majority of people in line with the dictates of the state. With a variety of powerful political and financial interests deeply invested in cannabis prohibition, the only hope to actually change things is through the power of shifting culture. I come from a school of thought that believes involuntary violent government is the definitive curse of the human race. The only naturally legitimate government on earth being the family unit, where parents govern their children on a moral path whose purpose is ultimately for them to practice self governance. The opposite is true of involuntary government, whose purpose is to keep its subjects forever children.
Dependence on the state for survival is slavery. To live under jurisdiction of a group of people who constantly seek to deprive others of their rights, their lives, their property, and their pursuits of happiness is slavery. All men and women on earth are sovereign individuals, and each of us own ourselves. No one but the Creator of the Universe has any legitimate claim to any part of you.
So how do they get away with it? The answer is simple. Fear and Ignorance. These are powerful weapons used by statists throughout the ages. From birth our minds are occupied with a streamlined system of propaganda through government run education, media, entertainment, and traditions. This is a system designed to keep you ignorant of your rights, of your true history, and of your power. This is a system designed to keep you afraid of your rights, of your true history, and of your power. Its real purpose has never been to secure and protect your rights, only to grow its own spheres of influence until it is nearly unrecognizable because it is ingrained in every aspect of our lives. Money is power, and there is a disturbing amount of money to be made through prohibition at every angle.
In our world there are many spheres of influence that manipulate societies, from the political to the religious, from finance to war. As war is the health of the state, and wars abroad breed tyranny at home, and tyranny at home leads to totalitarian control, and totalitarian control is and always has been the primary goal of any involuntary government, it is no surprise that the United States is constantly at war, not only through foreign entanglements, but also against the American people.
The “War on Drugs” is a war on individual liberty, and its primary antagonists are those criminal elements who profit by harvesting our natural, God-given freedoms. If you truly want to understand any criminal enterprise, simply follow the money and lies. Harry J. Anslinger, director of the Federal Bureau of Narcotics in 1930 realized that he could grow his agency exponentially by demonizing cannabis using racism and wild outlandish propaganda to create fear in the American public. Here are just a few of his more outrageous quotes:
“There are 100,000 total marijuana smokers in the US, and most are Negroes, Hispanics, Filipinos, and entertainers. Their Satanic music, jazz, and swing, result from marijuana use. This marijuana causes white women to seek sexual relations with Negroes, entertainers, and any others.”
“…the primary reason to outlaw marijuana is its effect on the degenerate races.”
“Marijuana is an addictive drug which produces in its users insanity, criminality, and death.”
“Reefer makes darkies think they’re as good as white men.”
“Marihuana leads to pacifism and communist brainwashing”
“You smoke a joint and you’re likely to kill your brother.”
“Marijuana is the most violence-causing drug in the history of mankind.”
Anslinger teamed up with William Randolph Hearst, who owned a chain of newspapers and saw hemp as a dangerous threat to his business and his substantial financial investments in the timber industry. He used his influence through his newspapers to distribute lies and turn the public against cannabis. Anslinger and Hearst then joined forces with Dupont chemical who had invented nylon (another hemp competitor) and other pharmaceutical companies to pass the Marijuana Tax Act of 1937, which paved the way for cannabis to become illegal at the federal level. After that, an all out culture war was waged on cannabis through news media, schools, churches, and films which led to the Controlled Substances Act of 1970, designating cannabis as a schedule 1 drug.
With cannabis illegal, the pharmaceutical industrial complex manifested itself as a great leviathan, creating thousands of dangerous new “legal” drugs without competition, making hundreds of billions of dollars keeping people alive without curing them of their various illnesses. The US government could corner the market on the illegal drug trade, creating scarcity while raking in incredible profits on the black market. Richard Nixon's dark legacy in the so-called “War on Drugs” created an even worse monster, the Prison Industrial Complex, whose machinations and horrors are too numerous to truly comprehend, and so unimaginably profitable as to become untouchable.
Today the United States has the largest prison population in the world, and roughly half of the prisoners are incarcerated for non-violent drug offenses. This has hit minority communities the hardest and has created a new version of slavery. This is a trillion dollar industry. It is a system of wealth generation with a virtually limitless supply of victims, each of which represents government subsidies and low cost labor. It is no surprise that prison lobbies and police unions have become some of the most prominent groups lobbying for its consistent schedule 1 status. As parasitic organizations, these groups depend on arrests and convictions of drug users to justify their very existence and inflate their budgets. Then we add a completely corrupt criminal justice system, coupled with the manufacturing lobbies against hemp (which is a clean and natural fibrous raw material used to make paper, clothing, food, fuel, building materials, waste clean up, and much more). The war on cannabis has continued to keep people from their medicine, to keep them enslaved in brutal prisons, and to keep them in the dark.
Today the mainstream American culture is shifting back toward the healing power of cannabis. As more states fall like dominoes to legalization or decriminalization, the masses continue to wake up and shrug off the old paradigms. All the laws in the world will not deter free humans from seeking out the fruits of their happiness on earth. Even with the constant threat of violence and imprisonment by state, people continue to consume cannabis and hemp. The recent ruling by the DEA to keep cannabis a schedule 1 drug now appears to the average person as a desperate last-ditch attempt to maintain control, rather than a reasonable action to keep America's streets safe from the wrath of zombie dope fiends. The truth has reached the culture, and the culture is embracing it.
The human body is equipped with a highly sophisticated system to maintain homeostasis in all levels of biological function. The human endogenous endocannabinoid system is armed with specific receptors that create communication between the body's different systems, promoting cellular function and causing malignant tumors to destroy themselves. Humans were designed to interact with the cannabis plant. It is medicine. It is of the earth. It harms no one. It heals, and inspires us. It brings us together. How many millions of people have suffered and died because cannabis was kept from them and they were forced to endure state approved poisons posing as treatment instead? How many children have been kidnapped by the state, ripped from the arms of loving peaceful parents whose only offense was the cultivation of cannabis? How many lives have been ruined by state violence against peaceful people finding joy consuming this plant? By educating ourselves, our friends, family, and community about the countless virtues of cannabis, we find ourselves on the frontlines of the culture war. Every human passionate about the power of cannabis is a soldier in this war, and information is your ammunition. If a person cannot see their chains, they will not resist the weight of their oppression. It is time for the American people to become cognizant of the great injustice that has been done to them. It is time to withdraw our consent. Through silent complacency, we breed our own tyranny. It is time to demand our freedom, by living free in disobedience to this imaginary authority whose incentive for perpetrating widespread crimes against humanity is profit and power. It is time to let cannabis save the world.
