Let's Get Some Cannabis Oil Going, Shall We!?

Method used: QWET (Quick Wash Ethanol)
Strains used: White Widow, Moby Dick, Six Shooter

This batch was frozen over night and soaked for 3 minutes in Ethanol that had been sitting in the freezer for several hours. It was then strained to remove the bulk of the plant matter and then put through a coffee filter to clean it up further. Temperatures were initially 100 degrees Celsius and later on 120 as I had the intention to decarboxylate it then. Instead of decarboxylating in the oven I opeted for this method afraid the extra step in the oven would make for the loss of even more terpenes.

To my liking it was in the end too thick and the taste was a bit of a burnt taste, even though other people who tried said it tasted good.

What am I gonna do the next time to make it better? I plan to soak the plant material for much less time, about 30/45 seconds and do more washes instead, since I did only 1 wash this time. I hope to get a clearer material. Also I hope to get my hands on some 99% ethanol, rather than the 96% I managed to find so far.

I will also decarboxylate it in the oven to make sure the conversion of THA-A to THC happens properly as I read some opinions that the decarboxylation doesn't happen effectively when you do it in the oil. Something to do with surface area and how the molecules are stacked together.

As an experiment I will separate different batches of the same cannabis oil and add food grade essential oils to it, so I can see if the different added terpenes can manage to change the effects of the same oil.

Awesome! Love the pictures, I think an explanation of what you do would definitely help! For instance, cooking temperatures and how long you let it simmer for.

There you go buddy, some updates
