It looks like the Senate Appropriations Committee is officially pushing for the rescheduling of cannabis!

Their main goal is to allow researchers to be able to study cannabis, the cannabinoids it contains and better be able to understand this plant.

"The committee is concerned that restrictions associated with schedule 1 of the controlled substance act effectively limit the amount and type of research that can be conducted on certain schedule 1 drugs, especially marijuana or its component chemicals and certain synthetic drugs," stated a report recently submitted by the Committee to the Departments of Labor and Health and Human Services.

The report added "At a time when we need as much information as possible about these drugs, we should be lowering regulatory and other barriers to conducting research."

The Senate Appropriations Committee has also asked the National Institute on Drug Abuse for a report on the barriers to research that cannabis faces so that they can better understand exactly what cannabis researchers are up against.

I feel like apart from nationwide decriminalization, descheduling marijuana is probably the most important thing for us cannabis-law reformers to achieve. That one change alone would open the door for all the research necessary to really bring out the truth about cannabis. Then we could finally have science-backed evidence for the countless benefits of this amazing plant!

With pressure increasing from more and more sources, I personally believe that cannabis prohibition and the incorrect schedule 1 classification's time is quickly running out.

A big shoutout to the Senate Appropriations Committee.

That's what's up!
