Cannabis Recreational Grow... Using Comfrey.... Color Challenge Thursday/Green

in cannabis •  6 years ago  (edited)

Today's color Green represented with my lovely medicine update and using the plant Comfrey to aid in stalk health and overall a great feed for any plant..

This is Afgoo and she is coming along quite nicely! I've spotted a few areas that p.m tried to get in. I've spot sprayed with my baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, soap recipe and it's working great, of course as you can see the fans are a must right now.. We have early morning fog that can last for several hours, last couple days and if you don't get the leaves dry it can spread fast! I've seen some plants get covered in just 3-5 days.

This last weekend, I spent another 4 hours big leafing and observing them... Because of the presence of p.m I'm taking off more of the big leaves than I normally would. However, they are loving it and it will be much quicker and easier when taking down, washing, prepping, and trimming.

A wonderful addition to any yard, garden, grow, is the plant Comfrey seen below.

@kimmysomelove42 Comfrey

I learned decades ago that Comfrey water, fermented, is an effective and easy to make fertilizer for any garden. Aiding in stalk development, since it has high levels of silica.

Supplies
5 gal bucket or any size container, Comfrey leaves/stalks , filtered water, gloves and scissors

Recipe

-Take 5 gallon bucket or any size container, and fill with filtered water. Filtered water is best, or fill 5 gallon bucket with city water and let sit for at least 48 hours to let chlorine off gas. You can use smaller container, doesn't really matter but you might as well make a bigger batch if you can.

-Take any part of the Comfrey plant, (I try to use the fresh younger leaves and the more you prune , typically the faster it will grow. You can dig up and spread it out to grow more in the later Fall time or early Spring once ground has warmed up.)

-Use a 1 to 4 ratio or more per container, 1 part Comfrey, 4 parts water. Make sure to use gloves, it's pricky like sunflower stalks or borage.

-Mash and cut up the leaves, stems or flowers and add to your bucket or container.

-Let sit out exposed to sun, air etc. Depending on weather, will determine how fast it turns. Usually about 1 week, it will start getting milky and really stinky, so keep away from your house etc. Once you can smell it, you can use it any time after that ore even while it's turning, not as potent as when it ferments.

-Once fermented, you can take a quart or more and add to another 5 gallons of filtered water and water your plants with this. I typically use it straight, however first using, perhaps water it down a bit. Most the time, I don't even filter it just leave it composting on plants. You can strain if desired.

I have been adding Comfrey water to all my garden and grows for years! All plants seem to love it. I haven't seen any that don't, and I have never burned anything from the ferment, which you would think could happen.

This year I mostly used Comfrey, and Aloe waters for my fertilizers instead of buying more expensive non biodegradable plastic containers full of fertilizers #Earthdeeds. @elamental inspires us to be conscious of our impact on Earth and how we can encourage each other to recycle, upcycle and re-use! Love to.. @earthtribe !

Another bonus is, if you leave buckets around to ferment, it is AMAZING for animals, I see all cats and dogs drink it immediately, my cat loves it! I first saw the Hawaiian people put in water for cats years ago and sure enough they will drink it. I make at least two to three batches of comfrey oil for my bone aches and bruises, best pain killer, I mix with Birch, Willow and Cottonwood.... serious serious epic medicine, need to figure out a product with this and cbd added!

My Green Crack is rocking, she seems to be about a week to 10 days ahead of the others. With that said the I'll need to get my loop or microscope out today and see how far along all of them are. Just by sight and feel, I think they all have at least another 3-4 weeks. I will flush for at least a week, so I need to account for that time as well.

That Green Crack looks amazing

Seriously! It's funny how all four of my strains this year, I've never tried before.. I always ask the nature spirits to bring me the strains and then depending on the medicinal effect I'm looking for is when I'll harvest... last year I harvested all my girls when the trichomes were amber/brown, made for super mellow night night buzz...

Lovely.

You ever go to the Portland waterfront drum circle every Sunday night?

Would love to blaze with you! And congratulations on your plants!

mmmm, that sounds awesome! I have a ashika drum a dear friend for me decades ago, little rusty, but would love to drum again? Where on the waterfront?

Just north of Omsi. North of the Hawthorne bridge.

And the beginning of Salmon Street. Southeast salmon street not southwest! That's the other side.

And yeah would love to meet more steemians!

Nice plants @kimmysomelove42! Thanks for the comfrey tea tip!
