Medicinal Genomics StrainSEEKV2 Sequence Data Compared to Phylos Sequence Data

in cannabis •  7 years ago

We review the genomic sequencing of 8 cannabis samples sequenced with two different vendors and alternative methods. Many short read, short amplicon based errors were found. This review implies that companies selling cannabis strain certifications are doing so with severely compromised data and these non-peer reviewed methods are creating "certifications" that are unlikely to be reproducible in other laboratories. Longer reads and primer agnostic methods are recommended as these have been published to produce more accurate results. The known and published deficits of allele specific amplification observed in amplicon based approaches are exacerbated in hyper polymorphic genomes like cannabis.
