The best thing you can do in your particular situation, is to have a joint ready for consumption and then go for it whenever it strikes your fancy. I fear that you might crawl into your own headspace if you "ritualize" the event, resulting in an overwhelming experience that emphasises your reservations rather than a pleasant experience guided by the cannabis' true effect.
