Daily Marijuana Use And Highly Potent Weed Linked To Psychosis

The easy availability of high-THC weed is a recent phenomenon, she notes. "Almost twenty years ago, there wasn't much high potency cannabis available [in the market]."

Interesting article about the effects of high potent marijuana. I've heard first hand accounts about this before, sad. I'm all for medical marijuana, and even regulated recreational marijuana, it's the high potent stuff on the street that people need to be cautious with. I'm not a user myself, but if I was, I'd want to know what I'm using is controlled and safe.

I don't use it either but I am all for legalization. Personally, if I were going to use it for medical reasons I would want a highly regulated and measured dosage. Maybe pill form. I'm not against the plant itself. What's right for some may not be right for others. I'm just saying my personal preference would be pill form with a precise measured dosage. As far as recreational goes, I say legalize that as well. It's definitely not any worse than alcohol.

Well said. I know people with cancer that are using the medical and it has worked great for them, they won't go without it. And it's not like they are getting high or anything, it's just relief. You'd have to be a really sick/ignorant person to want to deny someone of that!

Well it is proven that mental problems are mostly genetic. And weed only enhances it or speeds up or the process.

Why? if there is an increase of thc(which is not the case since 2001 here in the Netherlands) There is not an increasing amount of people suffering from schizophrenia? I think that should speak volume.

Comparing a few cities and jumping to conclusions doesnt convince me. I find the title a bit clickbait while in the same article they even admit there is no hard evidence to back up their claim.

But the new study shows that cities with more easily available high-THC weed do have a higher rate of new diagnoses of psychosis.

"That's a really interesting finding, and that's not something anyone has done before," she adds.

smh.. Acting like they invented the wheel while half of my life i hear about weed and mental problems. Its nada new. The only thing new is, they act like its new.

"it's the high potent stuff on the street that people need to be cautious with.

Not really, it are the one with mental problems who should be careful taking (potent) weed.

Peace

Thanks for the comment, you obviously know more than I do on the subject, I'm glad to learn more about it, thanks again for sharing. Cheers. :)

Thanks but i dont know much about it. So is science, they are not really sure about it.

Apparently, it can even work the opposite. According to research: CDB, a cannabinoid in cannabis helps, eases or minimalize the psychoses for schizophrenic people.

This might explain why psychotic/ schizophrenic people tend to smoke weed more often, due to the positive effects it can offer.

So when you would do a research on schizophrenia and you would interview these people they would say "he i smoke weed regularly and do whatever.. And bam there you got now they can say "30% of psychotic people smoke weed." Or some stuff like that... Looks interesting in magazines or wherever..

While in reality they didn;t even touched the subject properly. I think the false propaganda started this way.

Just my stoner cents..

Peace

Also, I've invested in the cannabis stocks because I think they bring a service that people want, safe cannabis.
