Cannabis prevents liver problems caused by alcohol

Guess what plant (forbidden) is able to prevent health damage caused by (free) alcohol? Marijuana, of course!
According to a new study published in the journal Scientific Reports activation of the endocannabinoid system - something that cannabis use does naturally - provides protection against inflammation and other liver diseases caused by alcohol.

The research involved a battery of tests on rats with induced liver disease, which were administered one agonist substance of the cannabinoid CB2 receptor, in order to simulate the effects of marijuana.

They then found that cannabinoids "protect against alcohol-induced liver inflammation and steatosis in wild-type mice."

"The results demonstrate that activation of CB2 receptor on macrophages protects steatosis caused by alcohol by inhibiting hepatic inflammation and autophagy-dependent pathway" explains the completion of the study.
