Decarboxylate Cannabis WITHOUT Heat! Terpene Preservation Method for Edibles!!

So We Know Heat Destroys Fragile Terpenes

and great strides have been made in terpene preservation, through the use of more volatile solvents and vacuum assisted evaporation methods. Unfortunately, solvents still destroy terpenes and the highest quality is only obtainable through the use of expensive lab equipment.

YOU Can Make High Quality Edible Cannabis AT HOME!

That's right, for the price of a few dollars you can pick up something which will decarb your cannabis while leaving the majority of the terpenes intact. This means higher quality edibles and higher quality medicinal efficacy! A double win. :)

Food Grade Citric Acid

Cheap, cheap, CHEAP! Citric acid is heavily used in the food industry and is readily available for only a few dollars a kilo. How do you use it? So simple it's ridiculous!

HERE's HOW

Grind up your cannabis. Whether you pulse chop it in an electric coffee grinder, or other method, the result should be a fine powder. You can also use extracts or hash, or hash oil.

Mix your citric acid. Take a small amount of water, about the amount which would be needed to dampen the amount of cannabis you just ground up, and add citric acid crystals to it. Stir well and keep adding a little bit of citric acid at a time. When you add some crystals and it takes a lot of stirring for them to dissolve, you've created a strong citric acid solution. (Yes, it IS acid and yes, it WILL burn your skin. So be careful!) ;)

Mix the Two Together. Stir the citric acid into the ground cannabis thoroughly. You want to make sure every bit of the cannabis has been dampened completely.

Cover With a Cloth or Paper Towel. You want to keep dust and dirt out, while allowing the cannabis to dry out. Let it sit for approximately a week.

That's IT!

Pull out a small dab and eat it, washing it down with water. You can also include it in any kind of non-cooked edible food.

Be CAREFUL!! (You've been warned)

This process creates much stronger edibles than you're used to, through the use of solvents. Start with a much smaller amount than you normally would and test your reaction. Wait 2 full hours before ingesting more.

Hell yeah! Thanks for the info!!!!

My pleasure, hope you get a lot of pleasure from it as well. ;)

Cool, there's something I haven't tried yet ☺ Thanks and Steem on!

rick Simpson oil isn't hard to make either! Thanks!

Yep, I started with ethanol extractions for making RSO as well. Always noticed a major difference in effect, between smoking and the oil. This is much more like smoking.

The Cool thing is you can make RSO out of strains with terpene profiles you don't do as well with and the effects are easier to handle. :)

You might be interested in my page. I post pictures from the cultivation facility I work at.

Thanks for the suggestion, some nice photos :)

Cannabis is my medicine...this is a great post. Awesome tip. Gonna try it!

I gotta try this too!

You too :D

Hope so. :) Let us know how it went. :D

great tips, any suggestions on things to keep insie a glass curation jar for long term "cold storage" of cannabis and thc and wee produtcs?

Hrmmm...

Some suggestions on what to include inside a jar where cannabis is curing? About 55% Relative Humidity is all I use. Throw a digital hygrometer into your jar, with the cannabis, and seal it up for 24hrs. If the hygrometer reads 56% RH or above, open it up and let it air out a little more. At 55%, I seal it up and put it somewhere cool and dark.

You can cure it for a year or more at that point. Just let it sit and get more complex in flavor, aroma and effect. :)

Great info!

Thank You, glad you found it. :D

Great post. I'm going to try this today!

I love this. I've been preaching this as well.

I'm glad you approve :) Please be sure to share your results. :D

Has Anyone Done This Yet?

What were your results? Looking forward to hearing how different terpenes are preserved, through using different strains.

The effect will be much closer to smoking the strain, with differences. So please post any descriptions you can come up with.

THANK YOU! :D

Didn't get it well, what is working as a solvent in there and how do you filter the plant matter? Mix the ground herb with the citric acid and water solution, soak for a bit and then run is through a coffee filter and let it all evaporate over a week? Any pictures on how it looks like in the end?

Completely missed your reply. Sorry for the lateness.

The citric acid is mixed with the plant material and left to dry. The acidity is what decarbs the cannabinoids and reduces the plant material. There isn't any extraction, this is decarboxylation.

I'll have to post some pictures, yes. Since thecleangame.net went down, (https://steemit.com/donation/@thecleangame/please-help-save-thecleangame-net-hosting-renewal-due-6-8-2017) I haven't chosen a new photo server. It looks a darker color and will be crumbly.
