Jack Herer is one of my favorite strains of weed. It’s a sativa dominant hybrid that strikes the perfect balance. As someone who works in the cannabis industry in California, I’ve been lucky enough to try many different strains. And I love them all, from heavy hitting indica’s to high flying sativas. But the one I always come back to no matter what: Jack Herer.

The strain is named after the famous cannabis activist Jack Herer, also known as the ‘Hemperor’. It was developed in the Netherlands in the 90s and remains one of the most popular strains in the world. The combination of an endorphin boost with calming undertones make this a perfect strain for anxiety, depression, ADD, and focus.

Jack Herer is, in my opinion, one of the perfect cross pollinations in hybrid history. The high is clear and bright but remains relaxing. The dominant sativa stimulates the mind while the subtle indica mellows you out. Perfect way to start the day when you wake up. I prefer Jack Herer throughout the day while i'm doing things. Many use it while being creative, whether its music, writing, or anything else. It can be used like coffee when you need to get chores done. Or just in social situations to feel more relaxed and confident.

It’s definitely sativa driven, which is usually what I go for. Euphoric elevation with a boost of creativity focus. Some pure sativas can give you an overload of the cerebral high and leave you unbalanced, feeling jittery and a little panicky. Jack Herer delivers the desired effect from the sativa, yet calms you down with the indica. And the indica is subtle enough it doesn’t weigh you down. You don't get tired or have a come down a few hours later. It strikes the perfect balance.

Something that must be mentioned with Jack Herer is the aesthetics. From smell, to touch, to taste, Jack Herer is beautiful. One of weed’s poster childs. Red and orange hairs spread like a wildfire over the deep green flower. Crystals sparkle like diamond all over the bud which is sticky upon touch. And if you take a deep inhale, spicy and tropical aromas hit you hard in the nose. I also love the taste, a tangy citrus pine that is oh so delicious. It looks and tastes great, but also burns smooth. Some flowers will burn hot and be harsh on the throat, but Jack Herer is known to be cool and relaxing.

I recommend smoking it out of a pipe to really appreciate the taste. Joints can work great too, as long as it's not mixed with any tobacco or filler. If you have some good Jack you will want to taste it. There are also some great concentrates out there with the Jack Herer strain. You can get some great wax and vape pens cartridges. I recommend Heavy Hitters or Orchid for cartridges.
