Today, in remembrance of Saturnalia and Jesus and all the other stuff lets talk about the innocents among us who the state actively does violence to.
An elderly couple, in their 80s was arrested for possessing 60 pounds of a harmless plant substance that is great for your appetite and maybe eyes or other stuff too. This is the weight of a a good size dog.
For simply possessing this, which they said was Christmas presents. The couple was commuting in a Toyota Tacoma truck and had the contraband in boxes. They were traveling from CA to Vermont, to spread holiday cheer presumably.
It is a assumed the state has kidnapped them. Deprived them access to their vehicles and may very well imprison one or both of them after various collateral and expensive other presumed costs in time and fiat.
Is this worth it? Does it help society?? I think not. Perhapas we should treat adults like adults finally??

as though that was not, but the hobby for drugs has never led people to good deeds. Another thing is that people can practically from any substances find something that they relax and are addictive, that's why in the world there are constantly substances and a ban on them .. thanks for the interesting article

Yea government is evil. The state murdered Jesus, who may have been born today. The state killed Socrates. The state did the Holocaust. The state did the Trail of Tears.
We should break our addiction to institutionalized arbitrary state violence and let people live their lives as long as they don't interfere with others.
People may make worse decisions in their own lives when they take drugs like weed or alcohol or crack or coffee. But those are their decisions. We should let people be free and try to help them if they want it. Until people want help and choose a new identity, I think intervention to their benefit will be sub optimal.

"The hobby for drugs" you call it. If I lived in a legal state my partner and I both would have a medical prescription for cannabis. I'm a vet and a little bit at night before I go to bed relieves me of just horrible dreams. It's not a hobby for a lot of people.
Also let's not make believe when it comes to the government. Cannabis prohibition was enacted in the United States by a soon to be out of work prohibitionist named Henry Ansligner who made up incredibly racist claims entirely out of whole cloth about the plant. He even gave it a new name that sounded more "mexican". Other countries followed suit after the US threw it's considerable political weight around and forced them into it.
But the War on Drugs has been one of the most destructive, and boneheaded policies maybe in human history. It absolutely does not work, and only leads to more profits for black market criminals, less safety, and increased crime that would not even exist if it were legal and regulated.

This isn’t even a true version of the story. Google it. It happened 2 days ago I’m pretty sure. They got caught, driving from CA to VT with pounds of herb, in Nebraska. Which is not a rec state. Hell, they may not even be a medical state.
Regardless, this couple was screwed from the moment they said “we’re traveling from CA to VT for Christmas.” That automatically made it federal and took it out of the jurisdiction of the officers on scene.
Long story short guys, if you live in a rec state, enjoy what you have, and keep it there. If you don’t live in a rec state and want the perks of living in a rec state, move to a fucking rec state.
As far as I know, they’ve been allowed to leave Nebraska pending charges. There’s almost no chance that they’ll get more than probation, and a good chance they’ll get a warning and a slap on the wrist(along with having to eat the cost of lbs of lost weed. But if they were really “Christmas gifts, sounds like they can afford it.)
For most people this would lead to decades in prison. Maybe life in some states with the right prosecutor.
There’s been no injustice here. People in rec states need to know the law. And if you’re sharp enough to be able to drive cross country, you’re sharp enough to know that it’s illegal to drive lbs of weed across states where it’s not legal. People get arrested for it every day. It’s called “interstate drug trafficking...”

What isn't the true version? What if the elderly folks have prior convictions, then they might not be as likely to get off? How has there been no injustice? So you think the war on drugs is legitimate? You think punishing people for condudct that has no victim is ok? If so why? If your argument is teleological utilitarianism, then I suspect non intervention might very well likely lead to higher utility.
People should be free to live how they want. I have yet to see any real explanation for how the War on Drugs can possibly be justifiable other than if your a porked up member of the military industrial complex getting fat of state kleptocracy that manages and murders the plebians in the name of control.

No. I don’t think that the war on drugs is legitimate. That’s why I choose to stay in Oregon and know the law.
That being said, I know that if I take my weed outside of Oregon, I’m subject to both federal laws, and the laws of that state.
The way things should be is almost never the way things are. In a perfect world, you’re right. Nobody would get arrested over weed.
But we’re not in a perfect world. And since that’s the case, they should be prosecuted according to Federal and Nebraska law, the way that anybody else who drove herb into Nebraska would be.
The drug war isn’t fair. But neither is playing favorites because of someone being “old and cute.” They’re already somewhat protected because it’s just weed and they’re “white.”
Why should these people be given less of a punishment than a younger, darker skinned person with the same record?
