Cape Town Water Crisis - but today is a good day !!

Hi my fellow Steemians !

How are you doing today? I could not be more excited !

This morning when I woke up, hearing the sound of rain falling on the roof was like music to my ears.

For the past year, Cape Town has been facing a big water crisis. Dams dropped to shocking levels. This was caused due to excessive usage and little rain. It became so serious that water restrictions have been put into place.

Residents who fail to adhere to these restrictions will not only be fined, but will also be the cause of Day Zero to be on our doorstep..

Day Zero will be the day where we open our taps, and literrally nothing comes out. Yes, NO WATER at all ! This was expected in April 2018 already, but with Capetonians working together and fighting to spare every drop we can, the date keeps moving onward and so we might be able to dodge Day Zero.. might !

So it goes without saying that everytime I see the clouds gathering and feel even the slightest drop of rain on my face, excitement and HOPE starts to flame up again !! Our dam levels have now increased from 16% of last week to a current 19% !

Water is precious. Water is life ! Please never take it for granted. Save water with every chance you get !

Wow, day zero?! I’ve never heard of that. Here in California we had (well, we always have) a water crisis but it never threatened to shut off entirely.

Scary I know !!
But I also think it is bad planning from our governments' side. They could have seen this coming way ahead. But then again, not everyone probably took the warnings that serious until they started seeing the levels drop.
Wow California also have water crisis? We travelled there in 2015. Such a beautiful place !!
