Just under a 2 hour drive from Cape Town one arrives at an idyllic countryside town by the name of Stanford. This past weekend I spent time with friends there and found so much to do!
There is a host of very good wine farms. My favourites are Stanford Hills, Springfontein, Raka and Sir Robert Stanford Estate. Birkenhead Breweries also offers beer tasting.
Stanford Hills offers horse riding through the vineyards (duration 1 hour) or a beach ride of 3 hours.
The southern most tip of Africa is found at Cape A'gulhus and is about an hour drive from Stanford.
This is where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet.
Hermanus is 20min away from Stanford (whale watching).
Stanford is a little gem in the Overberg. Good place to stop for a snack and coffee.

It is a little gem! We stayed 4 nights in Standford and was occupied all 5 days with places to see and wines to taste! Great place to call base and explore the other surrounding towns.

We have a town called Stanford too. Named after Sir Robert Stanford who was a British soldier who bought a farm here.
