When it went on sale in 1964, the Ford mustang became the fastest-selling car in history. Its first year in the showrooms it dazzled, 418 812 found buyers. In its second year about a million were sold. The was a huge range of options for the Mustang. If customers could not afford the icon V8, then the 2.7/3.3 litre straight six engines were available.
