Hello, I recently got into a car accident December 20th just a few days before Christmas. Since then I had aggressively searched both dealership lots and online websites for a decent car to fit my $8,000 price range. You would have thought my life savings would be able to go a long way but not in the ruthless second hand auto industry of New Jersey. Before we get into specifics I would like to give a big round of applause to all of the website such as cars.com, cargurus, letgo, Facebook marketplace, craigslist and even Kelley blue book sales. All of these websites we're not only not up to date as far as inventory goes but it really made me question if those deals we're real or just bait to get you into the dealership. * item this webpage shows a 2014 Ford fiesta red hatch back for only 7300! However on their lot at Edison minicooper the sticker price was around 12,000. As I was staring at this price tag baffled and confused as to why the car was so much more I pull out my phone to verify that this was the same car. I look on car gurus to pull up the VIN number for the page of this car when im approached by a member of their sales staff. Ultimately this was convient because she was able to help me confirm that was indeed the car I was looking at and they would be more than happy to honor the price! (It may seem like it's going good so far but this is actually the turning point cause I have the amount full in cash) so we go in and sit down at this lady's desk only to be hit with a whirlwind of bs. She honored that price alright coming back with a marked up out the door amount of closer to 10.2k. Which icluded a 1000 dollar fee for paying in cash a 300 dollar window etching fee (paid already by both previous owners) and they refused to get my car registered for nothing less than a $600 document fee and 125 registration fee! What is wrong with the autosales and advertising world? Will this market ever get less shady? Find out on the next installment!
