Car of the Day -- Auto des Tages -- An American Classic spotted in Germany

I never imagined I would ever come across one of these monster Oldsmobiles 98s on the streets in Europe. Americans would be surprised by how many classic American cars and trucks have been lovingly restored and are driving around Europe.

In the rural area where I live there is a guy who owns a 60s Cadillac and when he parks it at the local supermarket it sticks out so far that it turns the parking lot into a one way street. It is hilarious.

Back to the Oldsmobile Ninety Eight, that I believe is from 1959. The 98 was the luxury line, there was a "sportier" ship called the 88. Below is an original advertisement I found online.

Here is an original Oldsmobile TV ad from 1959 -- unintentionally funny now.

YouTube video of the same car in Texas. Good video, terrible audio (turn off your sound)

Thanks for stopping by!

Yeah, I think for a lot of us guys it's somewhat genetic. My mom told me when I was a toddler and just learning to speak, I would point to cars and say "Ford" "Chevy" etc. I was so young I couldn't even remember doing that.

Funny, because its exactly the same here... I knew more cars as a toddler than my father, and he used to be (and still is) a driving instructor, so he is on the road all day long.

Wow ... nice photos.

Thanks man. The cars are parked really tight, there are tons of people around them, and there is too much to see! So they are really just quick snaps. Appreciate you stopping by!
