Against the widespread belief that the American concept-car has existed only since the 50s, Buick created the world's first project car in 1937 with the development of the experimental Y-job. Buzz Roadmaster chassis giant production idea came from the talented Harley Earl designer, who in 1920 made special bodies for film stars. The Y-job name was chosen because many other car manufacturers' project studies were named X. Apart from being a two-seater convertible for a monster car, the Y-Job offered a number of extras, such as the headlamps, electric windows, recessed door handles, and a roof that can be lowered under the lid.
