Why to buy an old big car? Introducing my beamer to steemit (7-series)

Sure, this is an old big car (american might laugh about what we call a big car here in Germany).

Why should one buy such cars?

Well...do you know that this car actually costs less money than a usable LED Flatscreen of a reasonable size?
You get those for around 3000 bucks over here. Not only the purchase cost is low, but also maintaining and fuel consumption is absolutely ok with these cars.
With an Liquid-Petroleum-Gas-Setup the car runs 300 miles for around 30 bucks. For a straight six with almost 200 HP thats great News, isn't it? You can't even run a VW Fox for that here in germany.

This car of mine has around 500000 kilometers on it, so around 300000 miles. Still looks quite pretty and runs smooth as silk, no oil consumption or leeking, seats still stiff and solid. I like the old fashioned phone, the wooden application (which at this one are not actually wood) and how it drives. It still runs fast if you like and feels comfortable, yet. Still the air conditiong is freezing your coke in the well placed cupholder.

Look how nice these leather-seats still are!

Of course sometimes you have to take it to the workshop, but there are many things you can tackle yourself, because the engineering is oldschool and you get parts for it on every scrapyard around.
On big cars, especially beamers, good care has to be taken of the axles, because those really suffer from milage. But easy to do yourself if you are not afraid of undoing some bolts.

Of course there are some scratches, bits and dents all around, you can tell the years by looking at the car (not showing at his best from this side).

But that's ok if you imagine that the car visited many parts of the world. Has been to Nepal, Russia, Italy, Turkey and - of course- did some of the milage on the nice german autobahn. It has a moving history and that makes it a lot more nice to own.

So if you like my old Beamer, you can give him an upvote, just as I do! :)

And I would be very pleased if you visited my music posts and give them an upvote, for example my entry for the open mic contest, as you can see here:

I'm not really a BMW fan but I liked your post. Please tell me the mobile phone still works. LOL

Thanks for your reply! Yes, the phone still works with a german Telekom Sim Card, except that you just have to guess what the display is showing, for those go kaputt on all of these cars:) So what's your favorite car brand then?

Oh, don't get me started. I'd like to own a Porsche, mainly so I can at least say I've owned one. :-D

I like the Alfa Romeo Brera, I wouldn't mind a Maserati Levante but a sensible buy for a guy fast approaching a midlife crisis would be a Mazda MX 5.

Oh, I like the Fiat 124 Spyder as well. (Which is basically an MX5 anyway) :-D

You're kiddin;) An MX5 - i own one;) If you come to germany I sell it to you for some steem, I don't like it that much. It's very uncomfortable;)

I only do about 14 miles a day, I wouldn't be in it long enough to get a sore bum. lol

I car-share with the wife, she bought a Peugeot 207 boy racer thing with black alloy wheels, darkened rear glass and full leather interior. When she brought it home I thought I'd have to kit myself out as a Chav to drive it. Bwahaha

Awesome car! Looks clean for its years and kilometers. Everyone say old cars aren't reliable, have terible consumption, aren't safe... Well I got VW Passat TDI with 400k kilometers (if not more) running like new, we got expensive fuel in Slovenia (1l of diesel is almost 1.20euros) and im able to do 5euros per 100km (daily drives), 1350km per full tank, also making a post of introducing it, comming soon. Thanks for sharing, loking foward on seeing more :) #keepsteemin

Wow, thats even more cheap in germany, so then has to be the 1.9 diesel I guess)? I also upvoted on some of your posts, you are taking very nice pictures! I bought a Lumix FZ 1000 and beside cars and music (the "not-human-things" I like most) I would like to get in touch with some more skilled photography too. So I am following you, thanks for reply and upvote!!
