The MCL33 is the first car in the history of the Renault team
McLaren today introduced its new car for the upcoming season in Formula 1 - MCL33, with which the team returns to the colors with which it debuted 50 years ago in the world championship - orange and blue. With these colors competed and founder Bruce McLaren, both in Formula 1 and Can-Am.
Fernando Alonso and Stephan Vandoron remain pilots for the team, with the Spaniard being the 4th season in Woking and the second for the Belgian. Today, the MCL33 made its debut on the track - the Navarra track in Spain, with Alonso recording the first kilometers, which will start the Barcelona test on Monday.
MCL33 is an evolution of McLaren's car last season, with the biggest changes being at the rear of the car, where Renault's engine changes Honda's. But as early as December, McLaren announced they had managed to solve the equation of how to best position the French V6 engine alongside the two hybrid systems it is working with.
Alonso said he was very enthusiastic before the new season, and Renault added that for 2018 they will provide their partners with a much higher level of reliability. Everyone in Woking hopes Renault McLaren will go back to the top of the list, and we will find out whether Alonso was right, explaining that McLaren's chassis last year was better than Red Bull's. And remember that Red Bull recorded three wins in 2017.
