Follow few basic steps to get started in building your first dollhouse.  

Building Material: -

As this may be your first experience of performing this kind of an activity and due to your inexperience there may be a lot of material wastages and that could cost you a lot but you can avoid such money losses by using wasted cardboard as the building material. You will find a lot of exhausted and wasted cardboard boxes at home or you can easily get them from big marts nearby to you. Try to get different sizes and shapes of packaging boxes before starting to build.  Try to involve your little one in this whole fun activity as much as you can because such activities also help children in learning many things and bring out their artistic abilities while playing. Except them, you will need few other things as well in the making of a dollhouse like glue, colors, graphic papers and scissor. Colors and graphic papers will be needed for decorative purposes.  

Building Planning: -  

The second step is the planning phase in which you will decide that how big a dollhouse you want to make? How many rooms it will have and what will be their sizes? What colors do you want to give to the interior and exterior of the walls? At this stage, you will take all these kind of decisions before going to the next step. As you are designing it for your baby girl, try to choose colors that she likes and it gives a girlish look after completion. Make a rough sketch on the paper of what you will be trying to build? Do not try to make its design very complicated and fancy; just keep it simple that will be easier for you to build. For the first time, the easiest design for you to build is in a square shape.  

Building Parts: -

In this phase, with the help of building material, you will make different parts of the dollhouse. Use large Cardboard Boxes as your main building material to build the basic structure and cut them with the help of scissor to give them a shape according to the drawn sketch of your design. According to your lay out plans, you will need a base, a front, two sides, and afterward boards for the assigned rooms. Do not forget to keep doors, windows, and stairs as children love these things and while playing with such toys, these small things fascinated them more than any other thing. Cut the cardboard box with windows and doors in it with the help of scissors.  

Decoration and Coloring: - 

Use colorful graphic papers and paste them on one side of the cardboard panels that you have cut to make the walls of the rooms. These paper pasted sides of the panels make the interior of the rooms. Try to use different graphic papers for each room to make its look more beautiful and make sure that the color you choose must give a girlish look to the house. One side of the panels is still plain, use water colors or any other paint colors to color the other side of the panels that make the exterior walls of the house. Children love to do coloring activities, involve your baby girl in this activity by giving her the opportunity to color those panels of their own choice. The cuttings of cardboard pillow boxes can be used to design the roof top of the house as they come with a unique and beautiful shape. 

Assembling Parts: -

This is the most important phase of this activity because all your efforts will go in vein if you fail in it. In this step, you will assemble all those parts together that you have made. Starting from the base and going towards the top is the best way to do that. Use strong glue to make sure that all parts are assembled together properly and your baby daughter can play with it without the fear of breaking it.  Building your own dollhouse with the help of wasted Cardboard almost cost you nothing as compare to the one you are thinking to buy from the market.
